I have a Husqvarna (YTH2448) 24hp riding lawnmower that is giving me problems. When in drive, the engine lopes. When I engage the mowing deck it stops and the idle speed picks up, but when I have the speed/acceleration down low and mowing deck unengaged, it sounds like it's about to shut off. I've changed spark plugs (has 2), new fuel filter, changed the oil filter, cleaned air filter, vacuumed any debris out from around the motor and still have the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on the carburetor. The ones I'm familiar with have 2 idle set screws. One for low idle, one for power. sounds like the low idle needs adjusting. If you do decide to play with the settings, 1) mark the screw head and carburetor before doing anything so you know where you started. and 2) keep track of the number of turns you give it. Pen and paper are a real good idea. Turn a quarter turn at a time. Start counter-clockwise.

trying out the 09 Husqvarna lawn tractor off road, I know they are not meant for the trails but with the mowing deck off and a good aggressive set ...

It's a 2006 Husqvarna riding lawn mower that i paid $2500 for new. it needs a new battery but other than that it's fine, has a 48" deck, i'm looking to sell it now but was wondering how much i could get for it?

which model # is it? i know the 20hp 46" deck at lowes is currently going for $1599 new and the 23hp 48" deck model is selling for $1799. i know there are larger models or ones with more bells and whistles but this should give you an idea of what to expect. also depends on how many hours are on it.

How many HP do you guys suggest for a riding mower to cut a 1/2 acre of lawn,the yard has alot of rolling hills with a few fairly steep climbs.I was thinking Husqvarna,what do you think?

Husqvarna makes the Craftsman mowers. MTD makes Cub, White, Troy-Built, Yard man, Yard Machines, Bolens, and the new Toro tractors. The John Deeres in Lowes and Home Depot are made to last 250 hours and be tossed. That is all the "discount" brands.

If you are looking for a mower go to a dealer, even if its John Deere. The dealer can service the machine after the sale. Most will even deliver for free. They know the machines and the feature that will work for your conditions and situation in your yard. You are going to talk to someone who knows exactly what they are talking about, and not someone who will be in paint tomorrow.

I would recommend a Snapper of a Simplicity. Simplicity has a mower called the Regent that is 18 HP with a 38" deck, and sells for $1999. You are not going to find many machines under 15 HP.

I am looking to purchase a riding lawn mower (tractor). I wanted to find out what is really the best one to buy or at least a list of pros and cons between each of the brands sold at Lowe's or Home Depot: Cub Cadet, John Deere, Husqvarna, Troy Bilt, Ariens - I'd even consider a Craftsman from Sears. Basically I'm not really looking for anything special, just a tractor that will mow my lawn, pull one of the carts that you can buy for it, and maybe use a plug aerator with it. 42" cut is probably plenty, though bigger isn't a bad thing. I'd like to hear advice about price vs. performance, quality (longevity of the mower), and some input on the differences between the different engines (Kohler vs. Briggs and Stratton, single cylinder vs. V-Twin). My yard is just under an acre, I have a few trees, and the terrain is very slightly bumpy and has a slight grade in back.

I do hope im posting this in the right section. I bought a John Deere riding lawnmower. I hate it!!! from the moment the thing was delivered. I also bought the dump trailer, i hate it to...I bought it to so i can load it with horse poo and i would be able to dump it, to bad i have to shovel it out! Now tomorrow i plan on going to Lowes and telling them to come pick up this piece of (word not allow on answers).
Now my question is what mower should i look at buying? I have a Murray and the thing is well over 10 years old and still running and can out run the John Deere. I have looked at Husqvarna and the Craftman. Would like some help here before i lose my mind....Thanks ") I will be shopping tomorrow and would like to pick a new one up then.

I suppose that you're using the small trailer designed to carry 800 lbs. If so when buying your new mower buy a garden tractor series which has the transmission capable of towing that weight. Lawn tractors are able to pull themselves and the rider and that's about it. Yardman (MTD) has a garden tractor series and so do many others. Husqvarna is made by MTD now but I don't remember seeing a garden tractor series. I could be wrong. Craftsman are way too expensive. Sears way of telling their customers that they appreciate their business. Many people have been stung by that John Deere junk so don't feel bad. Nothing manufactured today is what is used to be nor what it should be.
