I have a john deere 48 inch cut riding mower and I am wondering how much oil that I need to put in it and what kind of oil do I use? How do I change the oil filter also?

It should have recommended type of oil in the owners manual... I know UI don't keep mine around either. You could try looking at the John Deere website or calling a reputable lawn mower repair place. If all else fails go for straight 30 it will say SAE 30 on the bottle.

As far as how much.. it should have a dipstick or if the filler hole is low on the crankcase it will be to the top of the filler hole.

Oil filter... It may not have an oil filter on it. Usually less than 20 HP doesn't. If it does you'll see a cylinder a little larger than can on the side of the engine. Mine, a craftsman is on the left side toward the back of the engine. Turn it left-loose, and after a few turns it will drop off.

Need a deck for a Model 345 John Deere Riding lawnmower. 48" or a 54" would work.

I have a 48" but it is in use. Try your local want ads.

the deck is a 48 in the blades are new

Not familiar with particular unit, however, often times, the wheels that support the cutting deck have low air pressure. Bad bearings in the wheel or castors can also affect Height-of-cut. Should be something you can see if you take a close look. (Compare all three cutting units)
