It is a 2006 model and no it does not have a bag. basic features, nothing extra.
It depends on the model. According to the 2008 Grounds Maintenance Equipment Blue book, the L102 17 HP gear drive is about $920. The L115, 19 HP hydro is $1060, the L125 20 HP hydro is $1190. The L135 with the 22 HP hydro is $1320, and the L155C with the 25 HP engine is $1720. These are prices for above average condition and low hours. Prices are also subject to your area of the country. Hope this helps.

I was thinking of buying a John Deere riding mower to do small jobs around the area this coming summer. Seeing as the 100 series (like the LA105) are all around $1500, would it be better to just buy the cheapest one and maybe take chances with problems and reliability, or to step up to the X300 series and replace the tractor less often. Basically in terms or JD riding mowers, where does the price meet the lifetime of the tractor. Thank you for your time.
If anyone knew, I'd also like to know the difference between the LA105, LA115, LA125, LA135LE etc, and which of them are worth it.
No the tractors are not made by MTD. They are however made in the same plant John Deere made the failed Saber line of 10-15 years ago. The tractors in Lowes and Home Depot are made to last 250 hours. If you get more then good for you. Instead of going to the big box store, go to a local dealer. They will have more machines there, and can more thoroughly tell you the differences. I sell Simplicity and Snapper, and I cringe when I hear of people only thinking of a box store. Will they service the machine on location or like a box store have to send it away for 2 weeks. I have a sign in my showroom, "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten". Just some food for thought.
I checked out the mower 2 weeks ago to get it ready for the season and used some gas that I had it was 2 months old, the mower seemed to run just fine. But yesterday I went out to mow and it wouldn't start, turned over fine just seemed like no spark, choke worked I could smell gas, it had about 1/8 of a tank of the 2 month old gas left in it but I did fill the with new gas and checked the plugs which where black and brushed off and still wouldn't start. The mower is only 2 yrs. old with only 40 hrs used and the battery is from 5-2007.
1. Could it be the old gas ?
2.Fuel Filter ?
3.Battery got weak after trying to start recharged for 8 hrs but still wouldn't start, could battery not have enough power to spark mower ?
4.Plugs say 100 hr replacement but being black could that be why it won't spark ?
Change your spark plug out just to eliminate it as a problem, also check and clean your air cleaner. Black on a spark plug means carbon build up, carbon build up is caused from not burning fuel completely or running Rich. A dirty air filter can cause this and prevent your machine from starting. Just a few things to check, Good Luck
My toro recycler from home depot just died on me after five years. I take very good care of my equipment and I am a little gun shy, though I have had toro's prior with good luck. The Toro was rated out very well on Consumer reports again, but I have become skeptical of their ratings. The engine seized with regular oil changes. I have been looking at the john deere js25 but there are very few reviews on it, good or bad. only consumer reports who doesnt rate it out very well at all. I went out yesterday and bought the deere because lowes said I could bring it back within 30 days even if I tried it. This morning I see an add from HD that has the toro listed for $319. Almost $100 bucks less than the JD. Anyone know about the deere? Anyone have experience with both? Am I blowing an extra $100 for a green machine or will it last? I dont mind spending the money if the JD will last. I just don't want to be out mower shopping five years from now. How is drive system on the Deere?
One thing you need to remember with your Toro, things happen. Don't blame Toro, it was the engine manufacture. For the last 7 years Toro was using Tecumseh engines, this year they are using Briggs & Stratton. Most people will tell you that Briggs is better then Tecumseh.
You are paying for the green paint and that little deer jumping. Don't get me wrong, Deere makes some great stuff, but its overpriced compaired to like equiment. Don't give up on Toro with just one bad experience.
