there is not a diagram on the mower anywhere. its the mower deck and the two pulleys on the side i don't know which way they go.
the web site you gave me does not work....

could someone just please explain to me the instructions

If you are talking about the mower deck belt there should be a diagram on the mower deck. If it is the drive belt there should be a decal somewhere on the tractor showing the belt diagram.

Drove the mower home a mile from it#39;s storage unit on Route 1. Had to haul the John Deere up over a snowbank, just to get it on the road... 5mph

You are probably going to have to find mfg. of the trans axle. You might do this by going to jdpc.deere.com If it is a foote you will probably have much difficulty finding it as the factory burnt a few years ago.
