Where I can get a replacement manual pto clutch for a 79 John Deere 111 mower, or info to convert to electric?

Where can I get a replacement manual Pto clutch for my 1979 111 lawnmower? Deere claims they no longer carry parts for this baby.Someone should still have parts for it.Or if their is a way to convert it to the electric pto clutches the new models have. The S/N 095874M if anyone should need that info. Thanks for any help.

I have pretty good luck when using jackssmallengines.com. I 've ordered parts and have actually replaced an elecectric clutch. As far as the manual goes not sure if this is the link you need.

Good Luck, hope this helps.

The John Deere 111 is FINISHED!

I have a john deere 111 riding mower when I try to start it just clicks hope some ome can help I got to get my?

lamn mowed thanks ray c

It is probably a dead battery. The first thing I would do is check to make sure all of the cells have water in them. Add water if necessary. In either case, charge the battery for 24 hours. I may start but after a few days of just sitting, it won't start. That's a bad battery. You may also want to check to make sure that the batter terminal connections are tight.

what are the years that John Deere made the (model - 111), and the (model - 180) lawn mowers?

19?? and 19??

please help,
I have them both and I need to know the years.

Model 111 - 1979 to 1985
Model 180 - 1985 to 1990

The site below will tell you the exact year your tractor was made based on serial number for the Model 111 only. It does not have the data for the 180.

John Deere 111 Starting Issue?

I started to have problems with the mower not starting via the switch so we simply ran a jumper cable from + terminal to starter. I first replaced the solenoid and still didn't work. Put in another key switch but something still not right. Tonight jumped the starter and it started fine. She put it into gear & engaged the blade at the same time and it died instantly. Unable to restart - no spark, nothing. Removed the ground cable going to points to rule out safety switches. Removed Spark Plug - No Spark. Pulled off flywheel - points move ok. Used a volt meter and I get a closed circuit (continuity) on both sides of the points when they are open! When the points are open there should I thought it should be an open circuit. Verified it with Ohms and it comes up 0.0 for resistance. Checked wire going to the points (from the coil) with the ground wire and again showed a closed circuit and 0.0 resistance. Why would my meter tell me basically everything I touch is a closed circuit (grounded)?

Very informative sight on others with questions and answers like yours.

Safety switches cause a lot of problems. You might have an intermittent fault so your solenoid is no being switched on. Or loose connection.

You can bypass this: by wiring positive direct to motor and battery negative to motor and just touch the negative wire on the negative battery terminal if it jumps into action the starter motor and batter
are fine.

or

Bypass the solenoid by putting something conductive over the top of the solenoid terminals.

If you have success you now know its a switch, so each must be by passed in turn.

!! battery current is dangerous & if you are in anyway unsure o
worried with the above options please take it to your local dealer; repair cost is never going to be as much as a new tractor & you can always just ask for a quote!!

P.S the replacement battery must be a least the same Amp Hours as John Deere recommends.

I would have to say it is possible that the seat and pto switches can be causing a the safey/kill switch to be on. That is just my thought though. I believe you can take the top cover off the engine off and get to the magneto and disconect the kill wire to it, and leave that off to the side (make sure it is not grounded), and I think that would tell you if it is bad or not. Ok, I'm most of the way there. I pulled the kill switch wire out off the magneto and got spark at the sparkplug. That put a big ole grin on my face. It's still a little wonky though. When I turned the ignition, I could hear the solenoid but I had to do it a couple of times before the starter would actually engage. Still... it's progress.
