The mower is being delivered on to me on Friday and was wondering if there is anything i need to know about this mower before operating it?Any pointers they may not have been already pointed out to me yet?

Im not an idiot but this is my first purchase of a new mower because im used to driving junk all the time and i dont want to screw it up.Thanks.

Make sure you put the right weight oil in the engine and keep it on the mark. Don't over fill it but keep an eye on the level.

What would be a good asking price for this mower?

You may want to take a look at comparable prices for tractors (including features, condition, location etc) using a tractor search engine like Machine Finder, as I’ve seen prices ranging from $1100 - $2400. We have a John Deere Lawn Mower model number L118 42" deck. It is cutting unevenly on one side. The blade on the right side cuts fine but the blade on the left scalps on the left side and leaves a long rough cut on the right of the blade or in the center of the mowing path. We put on new blades, but that didn't help. The blades look even. What else could be wrong?

Easy, either the deck is not level, or the spindle on the left side is worn out. To level the deck, check the tire pressure, 14psi r, 10 psi f, there are two leveling bolts that attach the deck to the lift. On a level surface, set the mower to the correct cutting height and then using a tape measure, check the height of the blade tips with the blades perpendicular to the mower. Turn the nuts on the leveling bolts to level the mower deck. Also check that the front-rear leveling is correct. The rear of the deck should be 3/4'' to 1'' higher than the front. Use the deck leveling bolts and the front hanger.

If the spindle is worn out, there should be a distinct scraping sound when you run the mower.

Take the mower to your local John Deere dealer and they will be able to fix the problem.

I have a 42" snowblower attachment for my John Deere L120 riding mower. I have downloaded the manual for the blower off the JD web site but the photos are of very poor quality. What I really need is someone to send me a pic of the proper belt routing for both the PTO belt and the V belt that goes to the jack shaft pully on the blower. I think I have it routed proper but there seems to be too much slack in it. I have the idler pully pulled as far as it will go and it just seems like the belt should be more taut. Thanks.

You need to talk to your local JD dealer. Most of the time the consumer info is only half there. Don't bother asking Lowe's or Home Depot. They just sell the equipment.

42" mower deck.
Toro has had zero-turns for a while.
John Deere is in its first year of zero-turns.
Should I pay a little more for John Deere or is Toro a better/equal mower?
Is John Deere worth the extra money?

Tell you what. Toro has been in lawn the bus. longer that JD. I don't know much about zero turns but I will tell you that Toro makes the absolute best walk behind snow thrower on the market. JDs as a brand aren't bad but usually overpriced. Looked in to a Simplicity?
