I'm going to start my own business type thing for small engine repair. Like Lawn mowers, snowmobiles, lawn tractors and things like that. And I was wondering what a reasonable price for labor might I charge...I've never charged anyone for this kind of thing before so I have no idea what to charge per hour or half an hour or whatever....any suggestions?
I suggest going to one or more similar type of repair shop not in your vicinity. I think they are obliged by law to have their prices posted. It will also give you an idea of what type of disclaimer you might need.Also because you will not become a competitor, the owner of the shop might be able to give you some valuable advice. Talk to you local Chamber of Commerce, and they should point you in the right direction. You will also need to talk to your state Small Business Association. Its a lot of leg work, but there is money to be had out there. Another option is if you can have a woman as the owner, the federal government has special loans and grants to encourage women in business. Had we know about that, things at my workplace would have been different. Hope this helps, and good luck.
