The leaking oil is coming from a gasket area. They are just push mowers and I wonder if it'll be about the same price just to buy a new one. Or get one of these fixed.
first I would say, that you can clean the carb. get a kit and replace what you need..remember simple things first!...get your phone book out..look under gasoline engines..you will find a sales and service dealer close to you..then call them with the model, type and code if it is a briggs...the others, such as tecumseh have different numbers..as does honda, but, you say you have oil leaking from gasket?..could it be the bolts aren't tightened?...I have run into this problem with backyard mechanics..sorry guys is the truth...but, a gasket can be replaced...again..need your numbers off the engine!...but, unless you are mechanically inclined and it's smaller than a 5.5?..chances are...will be cheaper to buy another one...but, check what I told you first...you can clean that carb. with Chemtool b-12..found at most napa stores and other's....
After removing a lawn mower#39;s fuel tank to access the carburetor, the carburetor can be cleaned with a carburetor cleaner or a simple brush ...
Here is the secret: remove the engine's cover but leave the spring and rope collecting spool intact. Do not mess with those tabs. Wind up the spool as far as you can and then lock the spool down to the engine cover with some locking needle nose vice grips so you can reconnect the rope. Next tie a wire to the end of the new rope, snake it through the engine cover to the hole in the rewind spool and secure it tightly to the spool with a small knot. You then hold the rope tightly and release the vise grips from the wound up spool. The rope will be automatically wound back into the spool.
How can I repair a flooded push mower
Flooded engine with gas? take the spark plug out, turn the engine over fast a few times and insert the plug (after you dry it) and try to start it.
Flooded with water...., get a new air filter, drain the gas and drain the carb bowl, pour a couple ounces of 91% isopropyl alcohol to suck the rest of the water up in with fresh gas. If it has water in the cylinder (repeat as above) and replace the engine oil..... should go then....
I have a Scott's Self Propelled push mower that the self propell does not work. It has a 3-speed transmission.
I checked underneath and gave the belt a tug, and it was not broken, but does have some give, I don't know if that should always be tight like on a car or not. If I start the mower up and engage while on the drive way it will creep/lurch forward slightly. If I lift the rear wheels off the ground they spin. Any ideas on how to fix this?
After doing some online searching, the mower appears to have been made by Murray, and they are now bankrupt/out of business. Not sure what if any repair parts I can get for this. I know the engine is a B&S and those parts are readily available, but as far as transmissions. etc. not sure what if any I will be able to find.
More info on the mower:
Scott's 21" 3-in-1, 3 Speed Self Propelled Mower
6.5 HP Briggs & Stratton
INTECK EDGE OHV
Model #: 21995X8B
The code under the serial is: 9060M
Engine #: 1216020121E1990126FA
The belt may be worn and jumping off the mower gear when engaged. Sometimes grass gets between the belt and gear and it slips. The belt should only be tight when engaged.
hi. i have a sears craftsman push lawn mower (got it second hand from a friend, probably pretty old). problem is, it is stalling out on me. i typically find it stalls out when i am mowing "downhill" even though the grade of the slop is not that big. any thoughts on what might be happening?
Check the fuel tank for dirt. rust , or a foreign object that could be blocking the outlet fitting when the engine is tilted . You'd be amazed at the things I've removed from fuel tanks in the last forty-five years. Actually, if there's water in the tank, when tilted, it could be getting into the engine because it's underneath the gas in the tank, and will get out into the carb before the gas. Good luck.
Push mower wont start! Help please!!!! - Home Gardening Forum
I'm getting desperate so I thought I would turn to the online experts! I have a John Deere JX75 push mower that hasn't been run in about 2 years so there was no surprise when I tried to start it up last week and it didn't do anything. So first I made sure it had fresh gas, changed the oil, air filter, and spark plug. It still didn't run so I took off the carb bowl and cleaned it and a couple other pieces with carb cleaner.... still nothing.
