I have a MTV tractor mower with a Tecumsuh engine that after winter storage will not start. I put a new battery in it and still only get a "click" when I turn the key. It sounds like the sound of a pickup starter that has a bad solenoid and the starter gear will not then kick in. The starter does not engage the starter gear. There is 12 volts out of the battery to a sort of regulator switch and there is only 7 volts coming out of that switch, which means that there is only seven volts coming to the starter. Is this correct? Should the starter be getting 12 volts? If I take the starter off, can Auto zone or another auto parts store check it for me. We have very limitted small engine repair places in Wyoming. Thanks

take a long screw driver and touch both wires from solennoid if it starts its the generator

I have a Roper rider mower that reverse does not work & the gear lever is a hit miss thing & you never know what gear your in. a few other things that I would like to repair to, I got it for nothing & the motor runs well so a manual would be handy, I've tried Ebay & there seems to be no site for Roper Mowers.

roper was at one time part of sears and is also part of AYP american yard products go to your local repair shop and be sure you get all the model info off of the machine it may be hard to find the info but look on all the side pannels or rear plate the more info you get the easier it will be to find a manuel for the machine. ie model #

I'm going to start my own business type thing for small engine repair. Like Lawn mowers, snowmobiles, lawn tractors and things like that. And I was wondering what a reasonable price for labor might I charge...I've never charged anyone for this kind of thing before so I have no idea what to charge per hour or half an hour or whatever....any suggestions?

I suggest going to one or more similar type of repair shop not in your vicinity. I think they are obliged by law to have their prices posted. It will also give you an idea of what type of disclaimer you might need.Also because you will not become a competitor, the owner of the shop might be able to give you some valuable advice. im needing a repair manual for montgomery wards garen tractor, riding mower, 11 hp 400cc briggs and straton...need to know how to put t back together...someone gave it to me in pieces...mainly the belts is what i need to get it back together

I do not have a manual for you.... sorry, but I can suggest that you look for a diagram of how the belts go. It should be visible on the mower deck.(depending on the condition of the mower deck) I had a Montgomery ward for years and I had to put new belts on it a couple of times, the diagram on the mower deck made it much simpler. Hope this helps.

i have a 1976 wheelhorse A-100 tractor and would like a service/repair manual for it as i plan on owning this mower forever. it's amazing. i have an original manual but it's just the basic one that comes with the mower. if anyone knows of a site i would appreciate it. thanks
