Bosch Lawn Mower

i have cut the cable on my bosch rotac lawn mower .?

i cut the cables on my lawn mower, so i have taped them back together with black electricians tape , changed the fuse in the plug because it tripped the soccets switch in the fuse board in the house , and it will still not work , is there anything i can do that i may have missed or do i nedd to take it in to a shop to get fixed..

You should take it to a shop. The electrician's tape is not going to be sufficient when the mower is outside in a wet environment, and you need to have the cord entirely replaced by a professional.

I don't know if this is recommended, but one thing I used to do when using an electric mower was to put the part of the cord just before it enters the mower over my shoulder as I mowed. This made me very aware of where the cord was at all times.

Do electric lawn rakes / scarifier work?

After having tried to rid my lawn of moss by hand with a spring tine rake, I'm considering getting a electric rake to take the hard work out of it.

I only have two smallish lawns, so couldn't justify spending more than £60-£70. That would get me a black and decker or bosch one.
Are these any good?
Do they break easily as it would be working a lot harder than a lawn mower.

If any one has one of these it would be helpfull to know how you find them.

Thanks

Daz

I think you should rent one first to determine if the tool will do the job you have in mind. Trying a couple of different brands and perhaps models will give you quite a bit of hands-on information. If they don't work as you imagine they should then you will not be stuck with a machine you don't want. And then you can go to plan B what-ever that might be.

I need a new mower for my garden?

I need a new mower for my lawn its smallish i have all-ways had electric mowers before. but have seen some bosch battery mowers in BaQ and argos. Now I have a battery hedge cutter for the privets and that lasts a long time and dose the job well. but what are the battery lawn mowers like? are they any good I thought if I have a battery one I will not have all wires to plug in?
When I use the hedge cutter I allways put I on charge and it lasts an hour.

Electric mowers don't have the power gas mowers have. If you let the grass go without cutting, the mower will have a hard time mowing it down. If you let the grass get tall, it won't cut it.

If you have a large lawn buy an extra battery. Mowers drain batteries quickly and you will need it to completely mow the lawn.

I have both gas and electric battery mower. I like the battery mower, but must cut at least once every 6 days or it gets too tall for the battery mower and I have to use the gas mower.

Where I can get a non-cordless grass strimmer that uses blades rather than a spool line feed?

I hate line feed grass strimmer/trimmers! The line keeps coming out and making a complete mess. Bought a brand new strimmer and it was worse than the first one. Kept getting in a right tangle.

Then I spotted the Bosch ART26 and ART23 'Accutrim' in B&Q which use replacable plastic blades that look exactly like the ones my old flymo lawn mower uses - great! Problem is that is was a tad pricey and cordless. Will the battery last, I thought... checked some Amazon reviews and the answer seems to be 'no'! Plus it's a pain having to wait for something to charge when you've suddenly got some time free and are ready to go there and then... would rather have one with a cord that I can plug in and use when I want.

Does anyone know of a decent grass strimmer, with a cord, that uses plastic blades rather than a line spool system? Looked on Bosch's website and theirs all seem to be cordless....

Cheers
Ross
Thanks for the answers so far... fluffernut (great name by the way!!), do you know what model number your Stihl is? The only Stihl strimmers with blades I've been able to find are large (and expensive) petrol ones; I just want a simple electric strimmer really.

Also, I should have pointed out, I'm in the UK... so I can't pop to Home Depot or Lowes I'm afraid 8-(
I've had both the single line and double line and both get in a mess... the line has snapped and gone inside the plastic shell and then when I've tried to take apart to pull out it's all sprung out... nightmare. Everyone else I've spoken to seem to have problems with them too so I'm surprised there's not more of the blade ones out there... yes, they may come off occasionally like my flymo lawnmower, but only takes two ticks to put back back on....

Hey Ross,
Check out the Home Depot or Lowes garden tool section, they have everything.
Also you can purchase the plastic blade conversion kit for your existing line/spool trimmer. Bring the model number of your existing trimmer with you when you shop for the conversion kit. It will have the model and make on the conversion kit for the one it is designed for. Ours works great. Happy trimming.
