I am looking for a inexpensive electric cord lawn mower. Please don't put down cordless unless you highly suggest one. Thanks!

its hard to suggest a personal tool to suit your needs without knowing the size shape & terrain of your lawn.
if it takes more than 20 cuts side by side then the width of cut is to small, & a larger one is required unless anything larger is to heavy & awkward for you to use,so don't be embarrassed about trying one in the shop to see how heavy or how maneuverable it is. "remember when cutting grass it will be heavier & more clumbersome, either barrel mowers ( for that bowling green look ) or hover mowers ( propeller style under neath ) are better with bags or catch trays for the cuttings as it will save you a lot of work raking up after cutting.
with cable electric it needs a auto cutout socket rcd unit in case you cut through cable, make sure that they are well maintained keeping them clean and dry when not in use the blades are adjusted to the correct depth of cut & kept sharp "less work ". hope this will help.

NO the corded ones r extreemly extreemly extreemly extreemly UNsafe doesnt matter how small ur yard is what happens if u dont watch where ur going and u mow over the cord

I need a nice mower. Are the electric ones any good? I don't really want a gas one. I've noticed that there are corded mowers and also ones with rechargeable batteries. Our lawn and our yard isn't that big so I wouldn't really mind the corded ones, but how do they function in comparison to the gas mowers?

Any recommendations?
What kind do you have? I was looking at the corded black and decker one.

Ive been using electric mowers for over 25 yrs,black and decker best ones,i also have a homelite from home depot.Pros its quiet and requires no repairs,but a blade sharpening every couple yrs.Cons you have a cord and cant use when its raining.make sure you buy one with a button to adjust height on all 4 wheels at once.

For an electric lawn mower that needs to be plugged in while in use, do they need a special lawn mower cord, or can you use just a regular orange extension cord?
Would you recomend an electric mower over a gas?

You can use any size 120VAC extension cord as long as it is a three prong (grounded) cord to prevent any shock hazards.

I recommend getting a Black & Decker CMM1200 cordless electric mower instead because you will not have to manage the hassles of a cord. Pulling a 100ft long cord across a lawn is actually harder than pushing a cordless mower. You can read my review below to get an idea of what a cordless will do for you.
