Cub Lawn Mower

What things should I check on a riding cub cadet lawn mower that has white smoke coming from it?

Cub Cadet riding lawn mower is 2-3 years old. It has white billowing smoke when the blade drops down to cut. What things should I be checking. Is this something I can fix at home perhaps? the small engine shop says they are behind 2-3 weeks.

Where is the smoke coming from? Is it coming out the exhaust or from the the mower deck? If it is coming from the exhaust you may have put too much oil in the crankcase. If it is from the deck it must be the belts. Something is not turning or the belts are not on correctly. I know this isn't much help but more information is needed for this one.

Cub cadet riding lawn mower -billows out white smoke -- Why?

less than a year old and the riding lawn mower billows out white smoke for 5 to 10 seconds and about every 3-4 minutes. Oil level is fine and we do not believe it was ever overfilled with oil.

Generally white smoke indicates that you are burning oil. I know you said the oil level is fine, but you may want to double check.

My cub cadet lawn mower is blowing white smoke (lots of it) please help!!

my cub cadet lawn mower that I bought in december has been blowing white smoke in large amounts and the engine is heating up. My grass was really long when i was cutting it and this happened. I put in the oil and gas but it still happened. What should I do??

get it in for service before the warranty expires. And be sure you have the oil at the correct level before you take it in or they will claim you forgot to put in the oil and fried the rings. You are probably burning oil, although often oil smoke will have more of a blue color. Is the engine air cooled or water cooled? If its water cooled, you might have a leak between the coolant and the combustion chamber. Did you add the oil before you started the engine, or did you start it first and then discover you didn't have oil in the crankcase and then add it later? If the latter, you could have damaged the cylinder walls and/or rings even with a short run with it dry.

If you have a warranty still in effect, call and get it in for service. Its going to be an expensive repair if its the rings
