I was mowing and I ran out of fuel, and I asked my father if there was any more fuel; he said yes there is plenty. I grabbed full gas can and put the fuel into the lawn mower and started it. It ran for about four minutes and died. My father failed to tell me that he just put diesel into the gas container that I used. I already flushed the fuel tank with gasaline and replaced the fuel filter. It still won't run. I know the problem is fixable I just don't what else to do. Please help if you can.
Thanks
your spark plug is probbably fouled up brush it off with gas and a tooth brush. if that doesn't work then you will have to run carb cleaner through the carb and maybe take it off and apart to do this.
This is my Diesel lawn mower. The engine is a vertical V-Twin Diesel imported to Denmark from China
I don't think I am ready to go trolling for oil for car but If I could mow my lawn with old french fry grease that would be cool.
yep, here you go!

the lawn mower ran out of petrol and I put about a half cup full of diesel in the tank by mistake and tried to start it. Will the engine be broken? What shall I do ??
That little bit shouldn't be a problem.
To be sure, just remove the fuel tube from where it enters your carburetor and drain the diesel out. You may have fouled the plug trying to start the engine. Diesel just requires a much higher compression and heat to burn than the gas engine is going to give. The diesel oil will just sit there in the cylinder and possibly coat the spark plug. Just take out the plug and clean it off.
Fill the tank all the way up with gasoline and try to start it. There may be enough diesel in the carburetor that you'll have to crank (or pull) it awhile to get the gasoline flowing through. If you have an electric start, try cranking it for 5 seconds and resting for 10; do this 3 or 4 times. (If you happen to have some starter fluid you could give it a short squirt in the intake if the motor doesn't start after a couple cranks--if you don't have starter fluid, don't worry about it.) If it doesn't start yet, pull the plug out again to see if it is oil-fouled again and clean it. It'll start eventually. The remaining diesel might make it a little smoky, but it shouldn't hurt the combustion.

Just wondering if wearing ear plugs to reduce noise levels in the cab of a diesel engine vehicle would affect ones ability to hear all other important sounds. I personally dont think it would be a problem. I wear ear plugs when running a lawn mower and I can still hear other noises around me. Are there any drivers out there that wear ear protection when driving diesel engine vehicles?
I'm pretty sure it's against the law. Check with your local police of sheriff's department.
I accidentally put diesel fuel in my riding lawnmower,, I emptied the tank the best I knew how, then put gasoline in it, now the engine won't start. What, if anything, can I do to reverse my stupidity?
Like my daddy always said, YOU CANT FIX STUPID.
Maybe it was Larry Cable guy said that.

A diesel engine is an internal combustion engine that uses the heat of compression to initiate ignition to burn the fuel, which is injected into the combustion chamber during the final stage of compression. This is in contrast to a petrol (gasoline) engine or gas engine, which uses the Otto cycle, in which a fuel/air mixture is ignited by a spark plug. When I was a kid, my mom would take me and my sisters to the biggest county fair in Maryland. It was huge, had all the different animals and vendors and my favorite, the Tractors and Farm equipment. Now this was before I really knew how many types of engines there actually was, although I knew things that moved generally had an engine since I just loved playing with lawnmower engines, little did I know at the time I would make a life out of fixing lots of engines and related components
This story I was reading about The Rice County Steam and Gas Engines club in The Northfield News in Minnesota really brought me back about 45 years or so. My mom would take the three kids and some neighbors to the fair, once we got there she knew where I would be. At the tractors and equipment show, climbing all over every tractor or piece of farm equipment there, looking for a set of keys to start the big engines!
