an old air conditioner and some old toys should i throw these things out as they are not useful but i cant part even with broken things,,, any suggestions..
Toss them. Trash is trash no matter where it is stored.
it was given to me taken apart. In trying to put it back together the pull cord spins freely. I am pretty sure all the parts are there. It has a electric start, but i took that off and decided i would just crank it with the pull cord. The pull cord bolts down on the crank shaft (i guess its called) the shaft is just an open bell shaped metal bowl that the plastic pull cord bottom fits in, but it spins freely. anyone know how to get it to crank?
If it's not the engine as the poster above mentioned, it might be that you forget some parts in the starter clutch?
If it's a Briggs you will have a big square post on the top of the flywheel that goes into the retracting cord spool. The post should lock to the shaft in 1 direction and freewheel in the other.
The post rides in a notched cup and 6 ball bearings that grab the notches on the post as you start it and are flung free to the outside edge of the cup when it's running. The ball bearings can get rusted in place if the mower was left in the rain a lot.
If that was the original problem, you can get to them by removing the four 1/4 inch screws around the top of the flywheel that hold the circular metal screen in place. Lift off the screen then the plastic bearing cover (you may need to pry a bit). You should now see the balls and pawls. The post can be pulled up and off the shaft.
Here hoping you get it figured out!
Evidently the unit is no longer being manufactured. Mine is 2 years old. I have checked the Internet websites for lawn mower and parts sales and called the numbers given, as well as written email letters, but have received no response and cannot make contact.
Bring the old blade, make, model and serial number to any well established lawn mower service center and they should be abel to cross reference it to an off brand blade that will match. Now if the blade is just dull they can sharpen it, if it is bent then you will have to replace it.
i found it in the trash so i don't know how it originally ran but here goes nothing. It will starter bye using a make shift drill electric starter because the original one is cracked. when it starts it idles with the occasional pump of extra gas. when i go over the gras it start adding power and when it goes over a thick patch it starts purring like a helicopter ready for take off. almost all parts are new or clean (spark plug, air filter..) it starter running better since i thinned out the fuel ( less smoke and more speed). To me ( i know this will sound strange but think for a second and bare with me) it seems kind of like new cars that are designed to save fuel by switching of cylinders when they aren't necessary. well this thing doesn't put out any power unless necessary to keep her running
its running better under a load because the carb needle is set too rich. warm it up, then turn the mixture screw in a little until you get max. RPM's. lawn boy 2 cycles are the best mowers ever made.

The one shipped to me was not the one as shown in the picture, nor in the written description. I wanted "the variable-speed auto-walk system" (as described), and I was sent one with a single speed. I has a bail lever and not as the one in the description. If you investigate further, Poulan Pro makes or has made several drive variations on this same mower. The manual that comes with the mower describes several. Amazon customer service did a great job with the return and credit, however.
