Had this riding lawn mower for 5 years, not a problem now it want stay started. It startes and then dies. It has gas in it what could be the problem?
It is a fuel problem. Either the fuel is not getting from the tank to the carburetor or the carburetor needs to be cleaned.

my dad has a L130 John Deer Riding Lawn Mower. it currently started to present problems when mowing. it does fine when going straight... but... when you turn to go up a hill, it is having problems pulling itself and even stops. the belt is brand new. any suggestions? it is also well kept and never been rained on.

I just closed on a new home on Friday that sits on a 1/2 acre.
I want to get a push mower - and out of all the lawn mowers at Home Depot and Lowes, i'm stuck between trying to decide on a Toro or John Deer.
Anyone have any suggestions as to which one to by, and even a possible model number?
Also - would you suggest a push mower over a riding zero degree lawn mower? I really think those are cool - but not sure if it's too much for a 1/2 acre yard.

The model would depend on how healthy you are. If you're young, then a pushmower, if you're older you might want the riding mower.
How about a self propelled model, that makes it easy to push or really guide. Either one of the manufacturers should be good, they have both been around for an age and are known for their products. Between the 2, I would probably go with the Deere, just because I like the green over the red.
I didnt do anything weird to the mower, it just stopped moving. It was still running and I could still turn on the blade. The only problem is that it wont move. I checked the belts and as far as i know they look fine. It is some sort of newer john deer. Thanks.

If you were using it when it happened, is it possible you ran over something which got up into the mower and disengaged the clutch on you. I've had that happen, especially in brush. Either that or the drive belt fell off the pulley, you sheared a key in the input pulley of the transmission, or one of rear wheel key-ways fell out
I looked at them all, John Deer,etc. From Home depot to Lowes and everyone eles, they all have the best So they say, Buy it here We deliver . But how do they hold up......
Since your looking for a rider for non-commercial mowing, you should definitely go electric. They cut just as good, and will save you tons.
