My craftsman 7hp self propelled lawn mower keeps getting oil stuck in the air filter. I bought a new air filter and it ran fine for 30 minutes, started smoking and shut off. I checked and the air filter was clogged with oil again. I was able to use it with out the air filter to finish my lawn. What could be the problem, how could I fix it, and is it bad to run it with out the filter?
1 too much oil in crank case
2 engine is worn out...bad ring[s] bad valve guide[s]
3 it can run with no filter...its on the way to repair shop/junk yard any way

Someone put gas in my riding lawn mower where oil goes. I have taken the oil filter off but the oil will not drain out. It is a murray ohv/42 and not sure how old it is. Is there another way to drain the oil and should that fix it or is it broke for good?
After you find the oil drain plug and drain the gas out of the system, make sure you kick the person's butt who did such a dumb thing.
I have a lawn mower that burn the engine oil so often that I have to refill the engine oil once every two weeks. The oil filter is as clean as new filter. Any ideas/suggestions?
Briggs,
I do not see anything you mentioned. No smoke. Machine kind of choke, filling additional engine oil fix the problem.
How do I clear any debris in the engine. It's a new one month old engine.
The piston rings are probably worn. You can have the engine rebuilt but it is probably cheaper just to buy a new mower. You can try a thicker oil, and see if it helps, but I doubt it.
I noticed a pool of engine oil dripping out into the base of the lawn mower. I shut off the mower and found out the filter was drenched in motor oil.
I have a tecumshe engine on a mower and it has the wrong dip stick. If you fill it to the full mark on the stick it is way over filled. Was the mower smoking before you shut it off? Was the air filter itself soaked in oil or the air box? The oil could be leaking from a gasket.
I have a craftsman walk behind lawn mower. There is gas on top of the engine and the oil filter is soaked with gas. I need some suggestions on how to fix this problem. Thanks
try putting a cork or rubber gasket in the gas tank cap or if the tank is leaking it's self you can use redkote gas tank liner sealer.
Yardwork and Air Pollution - Yoga Blog - My Yoga Online
With the days getting longer, many homeowners thoughts turn to the work that waits in their yards. Many people associate air pollution with cars, airplanes, energy-producing facilities, and other large fuel consumers. The small engines used in lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, chain saws, and leaf blowers, however, represent a significant source of air pollutants.
Indeed, most small engines emit high levels of carbon monoxide (CO), a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. In addition to CO, small engines emit ozone-forming hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides. Ground-level ozone impairs lung function and contributes to smog formation. According to the Government of Canada, a gasoline-powered lawn mower emits about 48 kilograms of greenhouse gases in one season.
