Im thinking about starting to race riding lawn mowers but I don't have a trailer to put my lawn mower in. So can I use ramps to lift my lawn mower into the bed of my truck?
Thanks.
Yes, metal ramps for this exact purpose are readily available. Your local mower service centre will have some for collecting/delivering mowers, they may not mind you asking where you can buy them from. If you are leaving the cutting deck on (and assuming it is centre-mounted) the key thing is to ensure that the deck does not snag as the front wheels go down on to the bed of the truck, the ramps need to be long enough (or arched) to give a fairly shallow gradient as the tractor goes on to the truck (and obviously the deck must be in highest position). As already said, the ramps must be fixed securely to the truck. Do not use timber, there is a risk of splitting/breakage, which could result in a serious and expensive accident.

This probably seems like a really dumb question, but here it goes. I have a problem. I'm trying to load my riding lawn-mower onto the back of my pickup truck. Sounds easy right? Well, there are a few problems. I don't have a ramp, I don't have a trailer nor do I have the money to buy either of the two. Outside of those two problems, I don't see anyway I can lift it even half-way. I am not Hulk Hogan. Any suggestions?
Do you have some boards lying around somewhere? We have used 5 or 6 ft pieces of lumber - preferably at least as wide as the tires Place them like a ramp between the ground and the truck bed to match the width of the tires. If you don't have any lumber lying around, you might check craigslist or place an ad on freecycle.
I need to take my new tractor lawn mower to have service at the end of summer. I do not have a trailer for it, and I was planning to use the back of my truck to carry the lawnmower to the dealership. Will the tailgate be strong enough to support the weight of the lawnmower without damaging it? If not, are there ramps for sell that will distribute the weight on the bed of the truck instead of the tailgate? Thanks!
You shouldn't have any problems. One thing to watch out for are those speed bumps or dips in road. That will cause a pretty strong force on the tailgate if you hit them to fast.
One other thing....check to see which end is the heaviest...put that part up in the bed and the lightest on the tailgate.
Be aware, I have an extremely bad back. I am not sure if I am even going to tackle this alone. I need to know how to make a secure ramp and where is the oil bolt?
I would like to change the oil before winter and storage. Thanks.
I found the oil bolt, but cannot loosen? I sprayed with WD40. If I am able to loosen later, what type of pan fits in this narrow space? Help.
on a sears craftsman 20 hp. twin blade 42" cutting deck, you have to drive the front wheels up on blocks to get to the drain plug.
Ive been looking to buy a zero turn lawn mower but unsure if one is capable of riding 8ft ramps into the back of an 04' f150 without tipping over backwards.
They look like there isnt any weight on the front end and look like they are back heavy since the motor and the driver sit in the rear.
Anyone attempted this before? And if so will a zero turn 42" cut mower even fit width wise in the back of a pickup truck anyway? Thanks.
Thanks for all the help people.Since everyone tried to help. This will go for a vote!!
they sure can...they have a very low center of gravity
