How do you bypass the riding lawn mower switch on the seat?

Remove the wires from the switch, strip the insulation back and twist them together. Don't forget to wrap the bare wires with electrical tape!

I can start up my seated lawn mower just fine. But sitting on the seat is the problem. Recently our lawn mower was repaired *blades completely unrelated* and a fat repairman guy not fat obese repairman fixed it and adjusted our seat *were short people* so he could sit on it and start it up. He moved our seat back which we moved up and fixed. But now when we sit on our lawn mower it stalls out like were not on it in the first place. This was never a problem. I know it's a safety feature to have weight on the seat and if theres no weight your not on the mower so it stops. Now we can't sit on it right because it will stall. We either have to lean back as hard as we can. Or sit with half our weight forward and lean back. It gets quite complicated but what can I do? Is there an easy way to adjust the amount of weight required on the seat. Or does it have to be repaired again. Which the fat man came in about last week and we haven't used our mower since.

By not knowing the model or year of the riding lawn mower, makes it a little harder to know what safety switch you have for the seat! But I will do my best!

Ok, the older models had a like push botton type switch, they were about 1 1/2 inches long that stood straight up and down so when you sit on the seat it would push the safety feature on, and if you got up when the engine was running it would turn the engine off when the top of the switch popped up when the seat came off it, but they all work about the same way!

Most of the safety switches were close to the back of the seat, but some models were put under the left or right side of the seat, there easy to find because they have 2 wires hooked to them! but the new ones, are like pieces of small flat metals, like small pieces of warehouse steel banning straps and all they do is touch each other when your on the seat, when you get up off the seat, they seperate, which turns the engine off!

Now I would say you may have the push button type safety switch and because of the heavy guy who worked on your riding lawn mower, his weight push the whole unit to far down because maybe the bolts or screws that hold the unit in place were lose and because he's alot more heavier then you or anyone else that uses the mower, now it doesn't work right!

Find the unit under the seat! loosen the screws or botls, raise the unit just alittle higher, re-tighten the bolts or screws, then try and see if that works, but don't raise it to high because then it won't work right, just move it up until it works right! just a little at a time! you should be able to hear the push botton switch turn off and off with a clicking noise, the metal ban system safety switch you should be able to hear too! if your seat springs aren't all rusted!

But what ever you do, don't bypass the safety switch, some one might get badly hurt someday!

There are 4 wires on the John Deere mower seat switches.
I want a way to permanently by pass the switch, if anyone knows where I could obtain a wiring diagram for 2007 L series, that would answer my question.

Under the seat there should be two wires attached to the seat. Cut and strip both wires and twist them together and try to start the mower. If it starts, use a wire nut and electrical tape on the connection and forget about it. If it doesn't start, cut both wires and insulate them with tape separately and the mower should now start.
