Go to the Snapper website at:
http://www.snapper.com/#
In the upper right hand corner click on "publications". In the window that pops up, enter the information (model number etc.) that is asked for and you will be rewarded with PDF copies of the manuals you need.
Good luck with your repair.

THIS TRACTOR HAS A MODEL# 1855A..IT HAS AN ONAN ENGINE(LOOKS LIKE MAYBE 20HP) I HAVE LAWN MOWER AND DISC ATT'S...AM LOOKING FOR SERVICE MANUAL
Hello there,
I just bought a Snapper 1855A today. I am a big fan of Snapper mowers and I have four rear engine riders already. When I buy a Snapper I go directly to Snapper's website and download the manuals for the proper model number. You can get parts, operators, amd service manuals in PDF format (Adobe Reader). Here are the manuals that you will need.

or search your model number on this page...

using as much or as little info as you desire. (model number alone will work). Thanks to Snapper for making these manuals available for us guys that like to rebuild or maintain our Snapper mowers and tractors.
Good luck.
Before, we took our old mower to a shop that services them, but they barely fixed anything and often charged for changing oil when they didn't even do it.
How can he do it himself? Does he need a special book or manual? Special tools?
They all need fixing and at least preventative maintenance eventually - but only if you intend to actually use them. No, we don't have a lawn service.
Usually, owner's manuals for mowers are pretty good on covering maintenance issues. A shop manual is good if he needs to some serious work (taking apart the engine, etc), as an owner's manual won't cover that type of thing. Shop manuals you can usually get through a dealer, sometimes the company directly - depends on the manufacturer.
Honda makes a damn good mower
I still have my father's Honda mower... I think the model is 215 HRT or something. He bought it back in 1989, and I'm still using it. Its a self pulling mower (has wheels that will pull it along, you just need to walk behind it!) The thing is pretty much bullet proof. The opnly problem I have occasionally is the starter rope going slack on me. Just have to recoil the spring inside, and its good to go. It is pretty miserly on gas too, even almost 20 years later. I doubt I use more than 3 gallons of fuel in a year. I'm not sure if newer ones have them, but mine has a two-blade mulcher, which works awesome on grass clippings and leaves. On grass you barely see the leave-behinds (unless the grass is really tall) I don't even rake anymore - cuts leaves into fine bits... free fertilizer!
I have a Cub Cadet SRC 621, and the transmission isn't working when I pull the lever. The cable is intact, and when I pull the lever on the handle, it moves the swing arm above the transmission. It was working ok, and then just suddenly wouldn't engage in the middle of mowing the lawn.
The speed change lever is stuck on '6', but it has been stuck this way for several months.
This hasn't been the most reliable mower I've had (great engine, not wild about the rest of it), but I'd like to keep it around for a few years. Any suggestions on how to fix this, or do I need to take it somewhere?
Is there a link to a PDF of the service manual available?
Check your belt and tension springs. If that doesn't work you may need to replace the transmission. You may need a transmission. If you want to contact me I will be able to help you find the parts breakdown that you need.
