I am ready to put my mower in deep storage, however I'd like to move it to an "out of the way" area so I don't keep tripping over it in the morning.

I don't really want to build a shed so I was thinking of mounting it on the wall with some large hooks. Anyone have any storage suggestions/solutions in mind?

Be sure to empty the gas tank. Also remove the spark plug and cover the hole. There is oil in the engine so hanging it up may not be advisable. Best to find a corner and take the handles off and cover with a small tarp.

Its a regular red plastic container, and I store it in the basement with the lawn mower, should it be sealed? Or is is combustable?

it should be sealed and it is a combustable. Make sure if it is the red one that both caps are on it. The only reason for the two caps is for when you are pouring it you open the back cap up to let the air in it.

a Do It Yourself fix, because it now smokes so bad that I can't use it, and the lawns getting pretty high? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the oil, if it full or close. Remove the air cleaner, (It will probably be oil soaked) start the engine and let it run wide open. It should quit smoking in a short time. The air filter is probably a sponge rubber one, wash it out with gas or hot soapy water. Or better yet replace it.

If that don`t stop the smoking, best you check the carburetor the float my be stuck. The smoke may be coming from burning to much gas.

i had my lawn mower in storage for about 5 months. it's an old mower that i got second hand, but it didn't give me a single problem last year. it always started right up with 1 or 2 pulls. i had it stored with gas in it, and someone told me i would see little bubbles in the tank if there was water in it, which i don't see. the oil is good, tried replacing the spark plug, air filter is good. it doesn't sound like it's even trying to start, but seems to sound slightly better when i take the spark plug out. is my mower just dead?

Find yourself a 1/2" socket, or wrench.
On the bottom of the carburator bowl is the bowl nut/jet.

Remove the nut, remove the bowl, and clean it out well.
Sometimes the bowl tends to stick to the big Oring on top of it.

There's probably some old gas in the bottom of it, and/or water.
