My aunt offered me a good deal on her old riding lawn mower and I really want to buy it. Unfortunately, I have no place for it. My garage is too small, and our cars barely fit already. I have no shed and can't afford to build one. Are there any other options?

Sheds really aren't that expensive. you can pick up a cheap DIY plastic shed for very little money.

if that still isn't an option, go with a tarp. just park the thing next to your house and lay the tarp over it. if it's windy, make sure to stake it down.

I have heard arguments for both, I live near Chicago, so yeah, it will get cold here.

Either way can work, but my vote would be with the Sta-bil. Many lawn mowers use a diaphragm fuel pump that will decay if it's left dry. That would mean a good chance you'd have to rebuild the carb in the spring.

How do you store one in the winter months?and if in doors do you have to keep it charged?
Got it second hand no manual : (.I have been to the site and no info.

cold drain batteries store in heated place if possiable.check owners manual and follow there instuctions if you have one

I bought a Sears Craftsman riding mower this past summer. I have been working a lot in the last 2 weeks, so I havent really had time to do whatever I am supposed to do to make it run next spring after sitting in the cold garage all winter. What should I do to my lawn mower to store it for the winter months and make it start again in the spring?

Remove battery store in warm place above freezing charge it once every 8 weeks, put in a gas treatment for storage like sta-bil don't drain gas that may dry gaskets and corrode carborator parts and/or rust tank make sure to run 15 min to get treated fuel into carborator bowl. scrape dryed grass from under mower deck and spray with oil WD-40

You don't want to empty it, but fill it!! Pick up a gas stablizer, Sea Foam is my first choice, followed by StaBil. Follow the directions on the amount to add per the size of your tank. Run the engine for about ten minutes to get the stablizer into the line. I would also recommend you invest in a can of Deep Creep, sold at most automotive stores (Advance, etc) - use it to spray down your carb and it will remove any varnish/laqauer that has built up. Deep Creep is Sea Foam is the aerosol version....these two products are the best of the best. I have used them to start a neighbors tiller that had not been run in years. Of course it took time, but they got it running - good!! Good luck.
