my lawn mower fails to reach full throttle. I have adjusted the cable to the full but to no effect. can anyone help me.?
My mower is a honda hrb536c. Thank you.
thank you all for your help. I should have said that I can induce a good rev by moving the throttle levers directly with my hand. The bottom spring is suppose to do this but dosent move the lever far enough.
If you are handy with tools, take the cover off so you can get to the air filter. Check it to see that it is clear and not filled with dirt and dust. While the air filter is off crank the mower and see if the cable is tight and working properly. If all this seems o.k., open the throttle with your hand to see if the mower will rev more than it will with the cable throttle. If the mower still fails to rev, the problem is probably in the carb and may need cleaning and adjusting. The carb should have a high speed jet adjustment on the side. Good luck.
HOW TO MAKE A Z-BEND at the end of a throtle, brake, choke etc. cable.
My cousin brought his broken go kart over and I'm trying to fix it for him. I have never worked on or used a go kart before. I know exactly what is wrong, the throttle cable needed replaced. The previous owners did a real sloppy job repairing it before they sold it! I've got a nice throttle cable off an old lawn mower that will hook on the engine fine with it's little hook -- but there is nothing to secure the cable to to keep it from moving. The previous owner had the cable held down by a bolt and washer, but the throttle cable I'm using is too fat is metal in the area that needs to be held down. Any suggestions on getting the throttle cable hooked up?
As a rule most lawn mower throttle cables should not be used because they are to hard to move quick enough in a panic shut down situation. You will need a flexable cable with a armored housing and have a return spring hooked so the throttle will return quickly.Their really needs to be a adjustment nut set up to shorten or lengthen the out cable housing to hold the outer housing down any piece of metal shaped to cover it with a screw to hold it down will work.
The self propelled throttle cable shows a turtle and a rabbit And how can i know putting it in turtle will turn the wheels slow and in rabbit will turn the wheels fast? (hydrostatic transmission) hopes this helps
Let me ask this, does the speed of the engine change when you move the throttle lever? If so then that does not control the self propel, it controls the engine speed. There should be another lever to control the self propel, and is is near the "bail bar", or the bar you have to hold to keep the engine running. If you have the hydro transmission, then the orange lever next to the engine speed is what controls the speed of the self propel. Please refer to your owners manual. If you can't find it go to http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/own.h tm and follow the instructions.
...I have a Dynamark push lawn mower (Made by Murray, I THINK!) with a 4.75 hp briggs & Stratton engine-it has no throttle, and is set so low it barely keeps from stalling even in short grass. To you small engine experts out there-how do I increase the rpms, or increase throttle speed?? Note- there are no wires or lines of any kind that appear to go to the carb- the only wire cable is the cut off one (For if you let go of the handle, the mowere stops automatically!) HELP!!!
It has a governor that keeps the engine running at the designed speed. Do not adjust it unless you know what you're doing! If it's set correctly, and you turn it up, it'll run the engine faster than it's designed to run, which will wear it out very quickly. The governors are very reliable and it's not likely it's working incorrectly unless it's been damaged in some way.
Are you sure it's not running fast enough? Is it possible that it's running at the correct speed, but slowing down as soon as the blade hits some grass, as if it has no power? If that's the case, your blade is dull as a table knife (duller, actually).
They have to be sharpened at least occasionally. You can take it to a shop and have them do it, or you can do it yourself with a small file or an angle grinder. If you do it yourself, REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG CABLE before you get near the blade so it can't start when the blade moves.
I bought i used lawn mower and when i bought it i noticed that the throttle cable was missing. so no big deal went and bought one and threw it one so i could get it running consitantly. But as soon as i was done i primed it pulled the cord it didnt start right away i noticed i was out of gas so put some gas in and primed it again and went to pull the cord and now it wont pull. I allready took the spark plug out to release the pressure but that didnt do anything any answers for my problem?
Does the unit have a flywheel brake on it. Maybe the flywheel brake is not disengaging. Or, maybe the motor is no good. Can with the spark-plug out, can you turn the blade by hand (I'm assuming this is a push mower) Will the engine turn in one direction but not past a certain point in the other (Could be a blown motor and the connecting rod is hitting the block). Or it could just be as simple as a problem with the recoil mechanism in the pull starter.

Lawn mower throttle cable broke - Homesteading Today
I have a 2007 poulan pro 6.75 hp push lawn mower. The cable broke this a.m. It is twisted wire and simply crumbled. I have a good piece of the same type cable only a little bigger. Is there any reason I should not use that to replace this shoddy cable with one that apparently does not rust and die as quickly as the one on my mower has? All I can tell you is that couple years ago found out the door release on my Ranger used a short cable going from inside lever to actual latch. Found out when this busted. NO auto parts store carried this cable. Ford wanted $135 for the cable "assembly" Could get a used door with glass, latch and the works for $50 or probably whole junk Ranger for...
