I was just wondering if I could put Castrol Edge synthetic oil in my lawn mower. I know it's probably a bit of an overkill, but I just want to get a little more performance out of it. Oh, and if I do, will I have to keep using the synthetic oil? Thanks for your help.
it will not make a difference, But a Sae -30 wt oil will
it will keep the engine lubed,
to get the best Performance out of it , change the oil every month, plus the plug,
[car engines have a filter, small engines don,t ]
small engines have a high wear factor, so the cleaner the oil the better it lubes,

Hey,
I looked at the underneath side of my lawnmower to see what was needed to do an oil change.I have a square headed oil bolt.I never seen anything like this. What tool doe's this oil bolt take?
if it's a square recess, a ratchet with an extension (no socket) will remove it. You just have to make sure to use the correct size (usually 1/2" drive). if it's a square headed bolt, use an open end wrench or crescent wrench. Hope this helps.
I have a 18 HP Briggs and Stratton in it. The manual says 3.5 pints (56oz) with filter. When I do that, it is way over filled even after running some. Anyone have the same experience ? 42 ozs works best for me.
There are a couple of different sizes of Briggs oil filters. Maybe your filter is a smaller size and therefore doesn't hold as much oil. Just a guess. I always judge by the dip stick and not by how many ounces of oil I put in.
i over filled my lawn mower with oil, it started for a little while and white smoke and oil began cooming out of the muffler. now it ont start at all, how can i fix this?
Just what the other person said. Drain your oil to the proper level, check the filter and it should be okay.
Hi
I have a Mclane Reel 7 blades Lawn Mower. It has a 3.5 Briggs engine. It never change oil since day one. I am thinking give it a oil changes but for how many quart.
I am thinking one quart or measure it by draining the oil.
If you know, I don't have to go through the mess.
Thank you.
Anthony
Opps. It was a 2.0 HP and I cannot found the drain plug easily. It seems like I have to take off the engine, is this true....
way to much work to change a lawn mower oil.
does it matter anyway after almost 10 years of old oil?
Thanks again.
dont take off the engine...remove the oil fill cover and tip the mower on its side and drain the oil. to refill , add a little oil at a time until you get the right reading on your dip stick...
No one injured after oil well explosion | Bryan/College Station ...
No one was injured Thursday from an explosion at an oil well site in eastern Brazos County, officials said.
A small fire broke out around 11 a.m. after an oil well tank battery exploded near the Petromax Oil Co. facility east of Kurten off Texas 21, but firefighters contained the blaze quickly, Brazos County Precinct 2 Constable Donald Lampo said.
Production facilities typically have a group of tanks that are connected to receive crude oil from a well or a producing lease. In a tank battery, the oil volume is tested before pumping oil into a pipeline system, officials said.
Lampo said some of the crude oil in one of the tanks apparently caused the ignition that led to the explosion.
...Pre-Season Lawn Mower Maintenance – Part 1
Pre-season lawn mower maintenance anyone can do It’s getting to be that time of the year, the snowfall is slowing down, the days are getting a little brighter and the grass is beginning to green up and grow. Since you parked your lawn mower in the garage last fall and totally forgot about it until now, there are some steps you need to take to get it ready for mowing season. Hopefully, you won’t have any major problems to correct, but here are five helpful hints to make sure your lawnmower is good to go this season.
Number 1, you parked it with an empty gas tank, right?
If not, your best bet is to drain the older stale fuel and replace it with fresh fuel. As fuel sits, it ages and loses its volatility. In other words, it becomes harder to ignite. Small engines used in Lawn and Garden equipment are low compression engines. They require fresh fuel for optimum performance. Many times the problem with a small engine is simply, stale fuel. Always insure that you use the freshest fuel available in your lawn equipment, it is simple insurance for proper performance.
