tried 2 new batteries on my john deere sabre riding lawn mower. the problem is, after mowing, the battery loses its charge, whats wrong with it?

maybe there is something shorted is is draining the battery down when it's not in use. either you'll have to find out what's draining the battery down or at least for the time beinDISCONNECTCT THE BATTERY after every time you use the mower til you can find out where the short is. loose wire? bad battery cable, cable may look good buISis bainternallyly and so is not allowing the battery to recharge.
i'm not even sure WHAT RECHARGES THE BATTERY when the system is in use. i don't believe they have aalternatoror or a generator. never thought about it. put 2 new cables on just to be safe. look into whatever is supposed to be recharging the battery. when alternators go bad in an automobile the electrical system will take the juice from the battery til it's all gone then the engine will die.

I was mowing my yard and stopped to move a ball out of the way. I locked the brake and jumped off. I forgot to disengage the blade. The mower quit, went poof and now I can't get it to restart. New spark plug didn't help. I smell gas when I try to start it. B&S engine in a John Deere Sabre mower. Help!!!

here's a secert I learned with John Deere mowers (I have one). I replaced just about everything on mine that you could and it still wouldn't stay running. I found out from calling John Deere directly, that on the gas cap is a tiny pin hole. If there is a lot of dirt in it, air cannot get to the gas to help the engine. I blew air through the hole and nothing came out, I finally used a straight pin and cleared the hole, replaced the cap and it stasrted right up and hasn't given me a problem since. Something so simple but very expensive. Now when it cuts out on me, I clean that little pin hole out and have no problems.

Ok i got a john deere sabre riding lawn mower from my uncle. it does not have the owners manual and i cannot find it online. i was wondering about what the suggested type of oil is and how much. i was gonna just use generic mower oil and add until it was full, but i figured if anyone knew what the manual said that would be most helpful. It is the 13hp briggs motor and is the model with the 38" cutting deck. the engine model is 28m707.

40oz. of 30w is recommended .I use 10w30in all mine.hope this helps.

i have a sabre by john deere it has a 16 hp twin cam motor ohv. ok i have been putting starters and solenoid switch on this thing for years! i took it to get it repaired and the guy just rebuilt the carb and such, i picked it up a month later and it still does the same thing! it drags it will not jump off anymore it goes 1 rotation and locks up ! but if i take the plug out it spins freely with no problem i put the plug back in and it locks up again! yes new battery, it has electronic fuel pump! i kinda seems to me that it might have a timing problem? or the exhaust valve is not opening or something? has anyone ever had this happen or even have a clue what is going on?????? please any help will be grateful

What year is this engine? Have you checked the flywheel key? If you put the plug in and it locks up it would mash the end of the plug in, is there a gap still in the end of the plug? You can take out the plug and with a flash light look in the plug hole and turn over by hand and see if valves are turning.
