the scott mower I have was built by murray
look up the mower on scott of murray web site, but there should be a diagram on the deck toi show how to replace it, just be sure to readjust the bolts back tight and deck straight when finished getting the new belt on they arer not hard to replace and most belts can be bought at a local hardware store also, it is simply readjusting the deck so it dont throw the new belt off and burn it up as sooin as you start the mower

When it's off, the front wheels (propelling wheels) are locked, and when I turn it on, the self-propelling won't shut off like it should. I can live w/it, but would like to know what 2 do 2 fix it myself if I can. It's a Scotts 3-in-1, obv. self-propelled, 22" IDK the rest of the mower's ID, if it helps anyone.
What's the control cable? Where would that come from or go to?
The control cable is activated by hand controls at the handle bar usually in conjuntion with the blade/engine control...It runs down to the shift arm on the gear box

We do have a bar on it but when we push that down, the wheels still do not move. Perhaps we have to replace a belt or something?

Usually there is a handle or such that must be squeezed to start the self-propelling action. You wouldn't really want a machine capable of chopping off your toes to just take off on its own.
