I was mowing last week and hit a root. My blade started hitting the inside of my mower. So I shut it down and turned it over to see if I could fix the problem. Well... I fixed that problem but caused a bigger one. I let it sit for a while and tried to crank it, but nothing. I checked the oil, but it seemed that somehow all the oil ran out of the mower when I had fliped it over. So I cleaned the filter and filled it back up with oil and changed the sparkplug. I have waited a week now and it still will not start. Any suggestions?
you didn't mention gas. When u flipped it over the gas could hsave also run out.
Does the blade move freely? You mave have also broken the shear pin which can break when u hit something. If the blade seems too loose then that may be the problem. The blade is part of the system that makes the motor run.
Maybe try to take the plug out and put a few drops of gas in then try it again.

HELP !!....On the selonoid connecting hot wires...The hot wire from the battrery is connected to which side of the two selonoid terminals. (Sitting on the mower looking down)..the left side wire runs to the battery and the right to the fuse and other. Also the left side selonoid frame mount bolt has the gound wire connected. Also what size fuse is for the Mower..I have a 20 amp in now?
The starter solenoid should have a few wires on it . One side has the main hot lead from the battery ( + positive) and the lead with the fuse to the ignition switch( ign switch needs constant hot to crank the motor) - the lead from the other side of the starter solenoid goes to the starter motor - the ground can go to the mounting bolt or sometimes a lil tab sticks off the solenoid thet it can hook to. Its possible the fuse pops from one of the constant hot wires grounding out somewhere on the chassis.

What happens if you put the lawn mower upside down to do maintainence underneath?
On a more embarassing note... what happens if you over fill the oil by ALOT and run it anyway, in hopes that it will burn off and won't be full anymore? (hey, it is my first gas mower, I feel stupid already so please don't make comments;):):) The lawn mower smoked and the oil burnt and say this person (I won't say who.... blush) mowed until it stalled. It won't start now. Say this person than drained the oil (which smelt burnt) and puts new oil it to the PROPER level. Is the mower wrecked? Or if it sits a few weeks, will the oil settle down where it should go and all will be ok?
(This is the kind of mower where the gas and oil are in separate compartments, NOT mixed).
Pull the spark plug out move the spark plug wire out of the way don't turn anything on pull the stater cord until it looks like you have all the oil out
buy two or three spark plugs the fist plug or the second one will fail there will be some oil in it just run it It will have to burn out. It will do no harm to the mower. Clean the air filter with soap water let it dry. Don't turn it upside down put it on it's side the carburetor facing up unplug the spark plug so it doesn't accidentally start

I was mowing the lawns this sunny morning on my Ferrari red sit on mower when it ceased to function. plenty of fuel and oil so that is not the problem. My gardener who is a Scot suggested that the Dy lithium crystal in the matter / anti matter chamber has malfunctioned. My English friend said that it was buggered and best sit down and have a beer. My French friend said it will take 2 years to fix, was it American and lets have a drink anyway. I cannot engage the drive but the engine does run, could it be the crystal?

You need to eject the core, and instead use a transwarp conduit to get home.

My young one left the gas tanks for the riding lawn mower sitting outside in pouring rain for several days - what are the chances that water has gotten into the canisters, and if so - how do I get it safely out? I vaguely recall having had water years ago in my push lawnmower - and a neighbor put some rubbing alcohol??? in it that seemed to cure the problem, but am not sure. Any suggestions anybody?
As an alternative - if I want to get rid of the possible watered down gas [new riding lawn mower - I am not taking my chances with it] where do I go to, to safely dispose the gas off? I can't just dump it - we are talking about nearly 6 gallons - it will damage all growing things and we have pets too, and obviously I can't put it in the trashcan... Will the gas stations accept it back, or where do I need to go? How do I make sure afterwards that there is no water remaining in the tanks before using them again?

Pour some into a clear glass jar,(Fair size) and look at it.
Water and gas don't mix,if all you see is gas thats fine.
Alcohol will do the trick.For 6 gals of gas a 16 oz bottle is fine.
Good insurance.
If you want to get rid of it put it in your car with a couple of bottles of alcohol to be safe.
Rinse out your gas can with a half a bottle of alcohol and let dry.
If Your gas can is decent and you can't smell gas everytime you are near it then likely no water got in.

For push mowers, this would be when the user lets go of the handle. Most riding mowers shut off when someone removes their backside from the seat.
