Why not plant a wildlife habitat on your property. Natural local specie plants can grow without fertilizers and artificial water sources.

Once you go native you'll never go back. You'll be helping the environment, the wildlife, and the planet. The best thing is you will have a lot more free time for fun instead of spending it pruning your bush.

I saw the solar charged lawn mower but I was wondering how much solar panel footage would you need for it to just run and run with no battery, but still cutting like a smallish push lawn mower?

2HP is 1.5kW. Allowing for inefficiencies, that is 2kw. At 12 volts, that is 170 amps!

10-watts per square-foot for peak output is a common number for arrays. for 2000w, you will need 200 square ft! That is an area 14' by 14'.

And you have to keep it pointing directly at the sun as you mow.

I want to develop a line of Solar Powered Riding Lawn Mowers to fight against the high price of gas. Its green for the environment and you can make some green on the way to work by cutting grass as you go.

Will this be a huge success and will you order one?

But yeah, out of all your crackpot schemes, this one makes the most sense yet.

I am currently building a robot lawn mower which I intend to build and sell from my garage (at least for now.) It is solar powered, waterproof and can work on anything from mud and sand to puddles of water.

I am aware there are many competitors out there, however these are horrendously expensive - some are only a few dollars short of two grand.

My mower costs around $35 to make. It is autonomous, versatile and requires no charging or refueling. Because it is solar powered I like to say it is "drop and go." It does require fencing but you can use any material that is higher than an inch.

Would you buy it? If so, for how much? Please be reasonable.

If it really works, I will add some basic features to tell the size of the lawn, so it does not go over. As for the price, it can easily double if you add the marketing, distribution, labor and any other miscellaneous costs to it. Contact me if you need to talk.
