I need to find out how to put this deck belt on my mower so i can cut grass. its a troy built pony mower
check the owners manual , disconnect the plug wire for safety.the manual will explain how to lift & support the mower hile working on it etc.or take it to a repair shop.

In my experience with belts going to cars and industrial machinery the belt always runs over a pulley at the motor and the working end. Normally on the motor side there is either a jacking bolt or another kind of tension and holding bolts. First you need to slack that off and get the belt off the motor end and then get it over the working end if you don't have to remove a blade. Then pull the new belt over in the reverse manner and jack the motor back until the belt can be pushed in about 5mm to ensure it is not over tight.
The blades are not broken what can the problem be? I don't understand and we got the lawnmower looked at and they said nothing was wrong! Every time we engage the blades to cut the grass there is a tremendous vibration. It vibrated the belt loose. What can the problem possibly be?? Please let me know any information that you might have on Troy Built riding lawnmower!!!!!!!!
well, look at the old ones. are there any large marks in them, or any unusual bends in the metal. this could mean that the blade hit a rock or something and they need replaced. if this does not fix the problem, try having someone slowly turn the disengaged pulley system for the deck. (there is usually a spring loaded brake on one of the pulleys that you will have to pull out of the way.) look for any variation in the blade's turn. you are looking for a bent shaft. the shaft could have been bent and would cause the vibration. if this isn't the problem then have someone turn the belt system and look for any variations on the pulleys. perhaps the pulley could be bent. if this does not diagnose the problem, you may want to check out the bearings for the blade shafts. if you simply cannot find a problem, take it back to the people that looked at it, turn it on, and engage the blades. then tell the guy, "now listen here buddy, something is wrong with this mower so don't tell me it's fine"

It starts and the blades turn it just wont move forward or backward. I looked underneeth and there is a spring that has broken off, also there is a belt (ether the drive belt or transmission) that is real loose. do you think that they have any thing to do with each other?
The spring is supposed to attach to an idler pulley that keeps tension on the belt so it will drive the mower. You need a new spring
We have a Troy Built riding lawn mower that needs some engine work. We don't feel like messing around with the repairs, so we were just going to sell the body.
What would be a reasonable price to ask for?
I like the other answer about subtracting 10% for each year and then the cost of the repairs - but I would argue that you may still have trouble selling it at that price.
When I put myself in the buyer's position, I can't help but think that there should also be an additional incentive for me to purchase a non-working item. Yes, theoritically, I would be made whole by deducting the cost to repair - but that is just an estimate. If I'm going to take the additional risk of buying a non-working item then there should be a little extra cushion in it. If for nothing else than to protect me in the event that the repairs go over budget.
How about
- Take 10% off for each year
- Take off the cost to repair
- Take off an additional 5 to 10% since it isn't currently working.
