its a 12 hp briggs and stratton engine.. it starts right up but when you try to lower the blade or let off of the clutch to make it move, it just dies. i need help.
yes ive turned the throttle up. lol
If it starts and runs well until you do something with the blades, then you might try the following:
Check to see if there are any obstructions around the blades such as a stick or maybe wire wrapped around the spindle(s).
Check the belts to see that they've not become dislodged and are properly aligned.
If that doesn't help, there is a PTO that runs the blades, it may need to be serviced.
Pulleys may be frozen up or need grease.
Engine has lost power, have the carburator checked. Spark plug serviced. (or replaced).
Otherwise, it looks like the "authorized" repair shop is the answer.
Heres a short review of the inexpensive weedeater one riding mower sold at walmart.
I am doing a report for my job and have googled myself to death. I am looking for the average price of a Craftsman Riding Mower -1975- current, Craftsman Walk-Behind Mower 1975-current, and a Craftsman Weed Eater 1975- current, does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could find this information? I have exhausted all options and would greatly appreciate it!
I used the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to calculate the cost of these products in 1975 dollars. To test the CPI click below:
http://www.minneapolisfed.org/research/d ata/us/calc/index.cfm
According to Sears.com, a Craftsman Riding Mower currently retails (on sale) for $1,299.99.

By useing the CPI calculator, I have determined the cost of the mower in 1975 would be estimated at $340.34
A Craftsman Walk-Behind Mower currently retails for, $249.99.

First I will have to buy a good riding lawn mower, weed-eater...
I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.
Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have about lawn care services as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for relevant links.
There's nothing quite like research – the more you know about lawn care, the better. There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!
It's a weed eater 954907 model number. I need the blade and pulley thing that attaches to the blade. I am pretty sure it's discontinued but there has to be something that would be compatible. Thanks for your help!
weed-eater brand lawnmowers are made by american yard products (ayp)same as sears and poulan ,poulan pro and many others.i don't think you have the right number for the model .it should have the horsepower and deck size in it like wd1238 or yp1542 and may letters before and are after numbers .but once you have the correct model number you can order parts or just get part number from www.jackssmallengines.com or other simular place .hope this helps.
Yesterday my husband and I borrowed his parents riding lawn mower to mow our backyard because it is huge! My hubby was trying to fix the weed eater so I was riding the mower. By the time I got done I could hardly walk because my hips hurt so bad! Should I not be riding the mower or is my body just hating me? haha I have a doc appt in 2 days and I plan on asking my doc about it. Just thought I would get some of your guy's opinions :-) Thanks bunches!
I don't think the vibration of the mower is really the issue. Neither is that really the issue of motorcycle riding as a PP mentioned.
The issue with motorcycle riding #1 is the safety factor. Too risky if there was an accident.
#2 is the noise factor, which is the other point my doctor brought up about things like motorcycles (and i would assume mowers).
They are very loud. In the womb, things are muffled somewhat by the amniotic fluid, but they are still loud. That constant noise could damage a babies developing ears. And said baby may or may not like the noise.
My daughter seemed to love the vacuum cleaner noise, but would kick the living crap out of me when a motorcycle started up! (I worked for a Harley Davidson dealership when i was pregnant and yes, hubby and I both had bikes of our own)
This Weed Eater Riding Lawn Mower has mowed a LOT of grass! - Weed ...
And I thought Weed Eater just made string trimmers...
A riding lawn mower was one of our first major purchases after buying a house with a large yard. We decided to look at Sam's Club because they tend to have great deals on many products and we purchased this Weed Eater Lawn Tractor for about $850 in 2001.
What I like about this Weed Eater Riding Lawn Tractor:
It sure beats push mowing over an acre! Simple to use--You don't have to push in a clutch to change speed. You simply push the motion control lever farther forward or backward. Most of the important items on the mower are clearly marked. No pull...Over the Egde couisn Live Cole-Eli: White Star Chp,7-8
I always want to be a fireman and a Storm Chaser when I get out of School. I was chasing the storm yesterday. I already have to jobs its a news paper route and lawn mowing for people that cant do it at all. I was chasing the tornadoes in Kansas when the tornado sirens was going off.I always want to be a Storm Chaser because tornadoes are important. Tornadoes are important because people can get hurt easily. The tornado sirens are not good enough to warn people to get in shelter. I always want to be a Fireman and a Storm Chaser when I get out of School. I already have to jobs its a lawn service for people that cant do it at all. If you want to have a person that knows it will do it right please...
