Can I use a rear bagger lawn mower to pick up leaves?

Instead of purchasing a separate piece of lawn equipment such as a leaf vac can I use a lawn mower with a bagger attached to clean the leaves from my yard? I do get a lot of leaves as we live on a wooded lot. We are tired of raking!

You can, and sometimes I do. But don't throw the leaves away - they're great for the yard. I would recommend that you just mow with the mulching blade on the mower - mow twice a week if need be. Or bag the leaves as you mow and put the chopped leaves in a composting pile. Leaves are a great source of organic matter for the yard, and you don't have to pay for them, truck them in, or even distribute them, like you would with commercial material. Many landscape companies collect leaves from the curbside and use them to make leaf-mold.

Lawn Mower Blade Nut stuck? Tried wd-40, block of wood, any other ideas?

maybe i should just sharpen it and leave it?

I ended up buying an electric impact for such items. It saves a lot of busted knuckles.

But you can "make" your own. Block the blade with the wood. Maybe get a friend to help hold it in place. If you have a large enough closed end wrench to use, put that on it and tap the wrench with a hammer. You might want to protect the wrench with a block of wood also. You don't have to hit it real hard. The "impact" is what does it. Strong "taps with the hammer.

Not recommended hitting a ratchet that way, it can damage it. It is too hard on the gearing. A very large crescent sometimes will do but those don't grab as tight and don't work as well unless they are very big giving you extra torque.

That is my solution.

Good luck.

How can I make my riding lawn mower harder to steal?

I want to use a locking system. but not sure what type of anchoring i should use. I need a good idea..thanks.
Oh , its going to be in my garage; so the materials are concrete for the floor, and wood and sheetrock as my walls.
The concrete blocks extend about 2 feet above the floor.

How Can I Use A Lawn Mower Engine To Power A Go Kart?

I am 14 years old and trying to make a cheap little go kart. I am using wood to build it so it is not very complicated, but I do not have the funds to use a horizontal shaft motor. Do you have any ideas of how I can make it work???

Changing a horizontal engine to a vertical engine is not the easiest, nor inexpensive task. Changing it requires 45 degree gears which are expensive and may not last long (depending on manufacturer and intended purpose). You are better trying to find an edger gas engine (although lower horse power than lawnmower), a tiller (which some that have more HP than lawnmowers).

In addition making the frame out of wood spells disaster. It may be strong enough for a while but with time it will come apart (most likely on a turn). As I was younger I looked into making a go kart and putting it together from scratch it is not the most economical way. Trying to get one used is definitely cheaper unless you can weld your own parts. Another way to look it used is by buying used parts and put it together.

By the your question I can tell you are looking at 1 problem and not thinking of the rest.

Do you have the entire plans for the go kart.

What are you going to use for wheels?
What type of braking system you are thinking of?
How about clutch? (lawn equipment usually does not have or require any so the engine do not have any).
What is your budget?

No matter what it is not a $20 project.

BTW, check out ebay to see what parts are available and how much used parts go for.

For instance a full (cheap) go kart goes for $340.
A new go kart nice 90cc full cage kart goes for $900.

Hope this helps

Now that your seedlings are big enough to be planted outside they need to be hardened off. This is done by bringing them outdoors gradually. The first day leave them NOT in direct sunlight for about an hour. 2nd day expose to a little sun for about one hour keeping in mind that you need to keep the soil moist to help them acclimate. Start adding an hour a day until they are up to a full day in the sun.

Space your tomatoes approx 25” to 30” inches apart and dig that hole nice and deep burying them up to the first set of leaves. This will insure a deep strong root system. To help with the shock of transplanting more quickly I like to mix two parts water with on part sifted compost. Then I mix together two tablespoons each of fish meal and cottonseed meal. I work both mixtures into the soil at the bottom of the hole. You can even add a crushed up egg shell for extra calcium.

After planting your tomatoes they should be mulched once the soil has warmed. Mulching helps keep the soil moist and helps keep the fruit from sitting directly on the ground. Mulch also acts as a slow release fertilizer and helps keep down the weeds.

Great mulch contains lawn clippings, fall leaves that have been shredded down with the lawn mower or shredder, egg shells, coffee grounds, sawdust, wood chips etc.

Okay now you’ve given your garden everything you know to do….So why are the leaves wilting at the bottom of my plant? Does my tomato plant have a disease? Here’s a couple easy organic fixes for many tomato plant diseases (like early and late blight diseases): I prune off the affected leaves and destroy them (you might have to do this every couple of days until under control). Then I alternate a copper based fungicide one week and a sulfur based spay the next. Why You Need a Zero Turn Lawn Mower

Your lawn should be a source of pride. It increases the curb appeal of your property. It provides a wonderful place for your family to enjoy the outdoors. It gives you a chance to show up the neighbors. However, most of us have better things to do than mow that lawn for hours, only to have to follow up with more time-consuming trimming.

The good news is you don’t have to spend so much time on the chore if you invest in a zero turn lawn mower.

Zero Turn Lawn Mowers: Why they are Different

A zero turn lawn mower isn’t like most types of mowers. In fact, it was not originally created for residential use. They were first developed for industrial use so they could efficiently cut large areas of grass without taking a lot of time. Eventually, homeowners began seeing the potential in making these same devices available for their needs.
