I stopped putting chemicals on my lawn about three years ago. Clover is slowly taking over the lawn. But.. it doesn't look bad and seems to not get very high (fewer lawn mower days). Also, I am looking at Dandalions differently. They don't look so bad along with the purple flowers coming up with the clover.
Am looking forward to the serious comments, as well as, the humerous ones.

it is actually recommended that you have more than one species of plant in the lawn by sowing clover or lotus (not the aquatic plant, that's 'nulembo') which are legumes-this group of plants have the ability to fix nitrogen from the air into the soil which is used by the grass as a consequence it will reduce your need for fertilizer-you will have a more balanced culture that will actually benefit the grass and decrease the chances of other unwanted plants from taking over. leaving grass cuttings when you cut the grass is also beneficial.
And i applaud your willingness to change perspective on what a 'weed' is- notice that you never see dandelions in the forest, they only take up residence in disturbed areas where we have cleared away the native vegetation. We have in fact created the perfect conditions for dandelions to set up shop! Grass is actually not adapted to the places which we try to grow it-people end up using astronomical amounts of water and fertilizer to try to counter what they think is a dying lawn when in fact it naturally goes dormant and turns yellow in summer. And clover flowers are both beautiful and fragrant-the leaves are soft to walk on and you only need to cut it maybe twice in a season. Lotus has small bright yellow pea-like flowers that are very pretty too. I also like the little johnny jump-ups and am amazed at those who will use chemicals to eradicate it..
And in the end, they all have green leaves so you still get an even green lawn if you cut it once in a while...
