My dad had a great idea for me to do on one of my jobs at a rental to save the lady money.Instead of raking all the leaves and hauling them off just mulch them with the riding lawn mower well it was ankle deep little more actually and I brushed my feet through them picking big limbs and junk up but still missed a stone like a garden rock and lifted the deck up immediately but still now the brake pedal vibrates like crazy even without the blade in gaged. Any suggestions on what it could be. I looked at the blade does not look bent down or anything but still going to change it to see what it does if that don't work what else would you believe would make the brake pedal vibrate like that?
It still cuts grass fine but vibrates like crazy so I stopped using it for now.
I am wondering if a pully could be bent somewhere that would cost less.
It sounds like the shaft on the motor got bent and is causing the blade to turn because it is out of balance. Disconnect the spark plug wire and turn it on it's side and check the motor shaft. You may be looking at a replacement motor. Sorry. It could be the blade so check that first. It's either the blade or shaft.
i wanted to see just how far you can push a mulching lawnmower. just what can it mulch and how far can you push it before its destroyed.
We are using my father's riding lawn mower and he has mulching blades on. He has the little hole thingy where the grass should normally come out of blocked with a piece of metal and tape. Well when trying to mow the grass you can not mow on anything less than a level 3 and sometimes only a level 4. Also when mowing the grass the mower will start to make a skreeching sound and then smoke and then the blade just stops cutting. Not sure what the problem is nor how to fix it. In addition to the noise and smoking, the blade is often missing areas of grass. any ideas?
that screeching sound is the belt slipping and the smoke is the rubber belt burning. you have to open the little hole thing. the grass has no where to go and it gets to be too much for the mower to handle, thus the slipping and burning belt and missed areas of grass. open the hole and you will be fine
I saw a commercial for this thing that hooks onto any riding lawn mower and it is meant to get rid of all the leaves in your yard and it turns it into mulch that yoou can shoot out of the other end. Anybody know what i'm talking about!? Help I want to get it for my dad for Christmas! :)
What a coincidence, I was just going through the new issue of "Field & Stream" magazine when I saw an ad for the very item you described. Here's the info: It's called "The Cyclone Rake". Web site: http://www.cyclonerake.com/index.htm
Your dad is lucky to have such a thoughtful daughter.
I will be hauling a small trailer for mulch &/or hauling a riding lawn mower.
here's a good one:

then i would just google for reviews.
good luck
My lawn mower does not have a mulch feature. I know that it is not good to leave big mounds of clippings from overgrown or wet grass on your lawn since it would smother the grass. But if I mow my lawn a second time, spreading the clippings out that way, it looks fine. Is that okay, or should I rake it up, given that my mower does not "mulch." And....if it must have a mulch feature, is that something that can be added to my mower? I have both a riding mower and a self-propelled push mower.
mowing the second time will probably work fine-as long as you don't have 'rows' of clippings left....even then you can let dry a bit then take a fan type rake and turn it over and use it to fan out the piles....clippings left on the lawn will help add needed nutrients....you can check with a mower repair shop about adding a mulcher to your exising mower but easiest way would be to just add a mulching blade
good luck!
