Cub Cadet riding lawn mower is 2-3 years old. It has white billowing smoke when the blade drops down to cut. What things should I be checking. Is this something I can fix at home perhaps? the small engine shop says they are behind 2-3 weeks.
Where is the smoke coming from? Is it coming out the exhaust or from the the mower deck? If it is coming from the exhaust you may have put too much oil in the crankcase. If it is from the deck it must be the belts. Something is not turning or the belts are not on correctly. I know this isn't much help but more information is needed for this one.
Just purchased a new Cub Cadet rider and you aren#39;t sure where to start? Here are some helpful set-up and operation tips to get you going.
less than a year old and the riding lawn mower billows out white smoke for 5 to 10 seconds and about every 3-4 minutes. Oil level is fine and we do not believe it was ever overfilled with oil.
Generally white smoke indicates that you are burning oil. I know you said the oil level is fine, but you may want to double check.
we bought new blades and the middle has a star where the bolt that holds blades goes, and on the old ones it just has whole. how do we make it work?
I have a cub cadet 1000 Series and the owners manual. What model to you have?
It will run for about 5 min. and then quit. After it quits, it won't start up again untill it cools down.
how old is it? the ignition could be breaking down causing it to loose spark when it gets to operating temp. which happens Quickly on an air cooled engine
Consider that an internal combustion engine needs the following: spark, fuel, and air. Check the obvious first, make sure that you have spark.....or just replace the spark plug. Clean the air filter (or replace it), make sure you have fresh gas in the tank. If it still fails to start, is it turning over?? If not, have the battery checked. If it turns over, but won't start, possibly the starter solenoid is bad. There are 101 little things that could be your problem (bad wiring, wire disconnected, etc. etc.). Approach the problem via process of elimination.
