Driving around on an incredibly clean MTD Yard Machines tractor with a rear bagging system.

I had the lawn mower battery in the basement all winter long so it wouldn't freeze. I still had to jump the mower from car to get it to start.
It ran great for about 30 minutes then completely died. It has a full tank of fresh gas.

Now I can't get it to start, even if I try to jump it. It just clicks clicks clicks when I turn the key.

I replaced the spark plugs and battery last year. (Although the battery is a cheap walmart brand)

What should I do to get this thing started? Replace battery? Check fuel filter? Any help from those who've experienced this would be helpful.

Eithe you are not getting power to the starter or the solenoid is bad. Check all the connections from the battery to the starter and make sure the ground wire is clean and tight. The battery should have 12.6 volts or so if it is fully charged. The reason it died is not related to the battery. So, you have two different problems. I suspect the reason it died is fuel related. The briggs engine has a soleniod on the bottom of the carburetor that shuts the fuel off, it has to have power going to it. I would check that. Check the fuel flow from the tank to the carburetor and if it is ok remove the float bowl from the bottom of the carburetor and check the needle valve. It could be stuck.

Check the trans fluid. I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, it's just that with a one year old machine, a lot of people wouldn't think it was the trans., so not check the fluid level.

It is an MTD Riding Lawn Mower

Check crankcase vent. Probably stuck or needs replaced.
