I've tried everything, I know they said to change the oil every season. So I tried to suck the oil out with a turkey baster but there is a curve in the oil pipe along the engine and I only got a little bit out. I tried turn the mower over to let it drain but only a half of quart came out and that is all over my living room carpet..geeezzz..another mess to clean...so any suggestions?
There is only going to be a little less than a quart of oil in you machine. approx. 16-20oz. The only way you can drain the oil out is to tip the machine on it's side. Air cleaner up/ oil drain/fill down. As you tip the machine make sure you have a large pan in the right place to catch the oil. NOTE: not an indoor project. Since you have been tipping it. make sure that you check out your air filter, sometimes when you tip it the worng way the filter can fill up with oil, and not let the mower run right. Refill with fresh 30w oil. Wipe up drainage with towel. Newer machines do not have a drain plug. If it does have a drain plug, dont use it. because most likely you will overtighten it/ stripping it out. and it will leak.

Shennie, you are hilarious !
We have been using plutonium in our Lawnboy for yonks Rusty, the only drawbacks so far have been the fallout of the Briar patch and a ceaseum in the moving parts of the fish pond.Apart from that most things are fine, the conversion is like changing your car over from low grade to premium gas with a bit more care involved. If Strontium 90 is your poison I say go for it and let the neighbours know when you are about to go mowing so they can revert to the shelter,,wooses.

My friend and i have a small lawn mowing business and i acquired a newer model personal pace Toro lawn mower for free. It was stored in a shed for about 2 years after being used maybe 5 times. I can prime it and it will run for 3-6 seconds but then the throttle closes and it shuts off. The air filter is new and the spark plug is new. I changed the oil and drained the stale gasoline. The fuel line and the carb are free of any gum deposits. Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!
The carburetor is the problem. It needs to be taken apart and soaked in a good carb cleaner. Put it back together with a rebuild kit.
When I try to start my toro lawn mower (22in front drive recycler with 6.5 HP engine), the cord gets stuck and won't start. I also see a little white smoke coming out in the area down by the spark plug. I changed the oil in it before I used it last time, and I guess I did put a little too much oil in it, but drained it out just now and still the same problem. If someone can help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks a bunch
Take out the spark plug. Cover the hole with a rag. Pull the cord a few times. Clean spark plug. Replace spark plug. Start engine. It sounds like you got oil in the cylinder.
I have a Toro self propelled walk behind mower I purchased approx. 4 years ago. I have never had a problem with it until yesterday. It will start, idle for 2-3 seconds and stop. I do this over and over and it will not continue running. I changed the oil, air filter, put in new gasoline, and made sure the oil/gas lids are on as tight as possible to prevent air from sucking in.
Now this wouldn't be urgent with the exception of having two potential buyers coming to look at my home tomorrow! My lawn looks like a pasture! I looked at the top to see how to remove the metal plate and it appears I need a special tool to do so. Please, anyone have any ideas? There is no way I can load that mower into my truck by myself to take it to a shop. Help!!!
It is most likely the diaphragm. The only way to fix it is to replace it. Here is a link that may help.
