My lawnmower pulled up a rock and now it will not start. This black kind of metal thing on the underside is bent and wont allow the blades to move past it. what's that called and how much does it cost to fix?

Look up your local small engine repair shop. They will have you up and running for 30-35 bucks.

Cold Startin my Toro Lawn Mower. I would suggest this mower to anyone, I love it.

COULD be... you hit something hard, and it sheared the key between the flywheel and crankshaft. This changes the exact time when the piston is at the very TOP ( TDC ), both valves are closed and the gas is compressed and light with the spark plug.
This is COMMON, relativly cheap and easy to fix. The flywheel won't look or seem loose, it's just moved a couple of degrees in the wrong direction.

Problem lately after I let the lawn mower sit a few days it will not start. I pull the start chain over and over and it will not start.

Also after I mess with it, it will starts up but a lot of smoke come out of the exchaust. Not sure why or what needs to be done to fix this.

I have a toro lawn mower if that helps.

When I try to start my toro lawn mower (22in front drive recycler with 6.5 HP engine), the cord gets stuck and won't start. I also see a little white smoke coming out in the area down by the spark plug. I changed the oil in it before I used it last time, and I guess I did put a little too much oil in it, but drained it out just now and still the same problem. If someone can help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks a bunch

Take out the spark plug. Cover the hole with a rag. Pull the cord a few times. Clean spark plug. Replace spark plug. Start engine. It sounds like you got oil in the cylinder.

My friend and i have a small lawn mowing business and i acquired a newer model personal pace Toro lawn mower for free. It was stored in a shed for about 2 years after being used maybe 5 times. I can prime it and it will run for 3-6 seconds but then the throttle closes and it shuts off. The air filter is new and the spark plug is new. I changed the oil and drained the stale gasoline. The fuel line and the carb are free of any gum deposits. Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!

The carburetor is the problem. It needs to be taken apart and soaked in a good carb cleaner. Put it back together with a rebuild kit.
