toro mower blade brake - bad parts removed

toro 21 inch self-propelled mower, has some bad parts. it#39;s been #39;giving me warning signs#39; of impending doom for some time now ...

My toro lawn mower keeps flooding how do I fix it? The engine is a 4.5. I changed the blade, tipped it on sid?

Since then I haven't been able to start it. I'm assuming the filter is probable saturated with fuel?

When you tipped it on it's side you may have gotten oil into the air filter. The crankcase vent line runs into the air filter box. Check your air filter for oil. The other thing may be the float valve in the carburetor. When you tipped the mower you could have gotten some debris from the bottom of the float bowl into the valve seat. You will have to take the carb apart and clean it out.

how do you change a belt on a toro commercial 2 cycle lawn mower, and does the blade keeper just pop off?????

when you take the bottom bolt off and remove the blade you see a rectangle keeper does that pry off so i can access the pully

Simple answer, yes. You might want to use some kind of penetrating oil, and then tap it lightly. Remember, this is the crankshaft of the engine.

Bent lawn mower blade?

Hello, I am 15 years old and I mow my lawn every weekend. In our backyard, my dad just recently removed a bush, but left a few stumps there. I was mowing my lawn today and I was maneuvering around the stumps but the edge of the lawn mover clipped the edge of one of the stumps.

When it clipped the stump, the lawn mower was making this very very very loud clinking noise which sounded like it was coming from the blade. So i quickly stopped the engine and turned it back o just ot discover the same thing was happening but this time with white smoke coming out of the air filter.

Smoke was originally coming out of the filter before so that really didn't catch my attention. What did though was the clinking noise. I flipped over the lawn mower to see if the blade was bent and it appears that it is. It is slicing the front right corner of the blade cover.

I haven't told my dad yebecausese he didn't come home from work yet. However, I told my mom and she flipped sh*t on me. I have a TORO key start lawn mower and it is about 2-3 years old. The blade is 22" long fyi.

Do I need to replace the blade with a new one?
Help?

I used to mow a lot of grass for a city parks department. On the Toro riding mowers we had, the blades come off quite easily by removing one nut. The blades can easily be hammered back into shape and resharpened in a matter of 10-15 minutes. You don't have to be gentle with them, the blades can handle some serious abuse. Just remember to re-tighten the nut firmly and check the blade after a few minutes of mowing just to make sure.

any review's on toro lawn mower model no 20439?

was thinking of buying a used 1 that just had a new blade clutch replaced?

I have similar model, I like it, still starts, runs cuts great. My model does not have the blade break clutch. Not sure how that effects the longevity. Other than regular maintenance, I have only had to replace the piece that holds the blade onto the motor shaft. ($12)

You should be able to find a consumer reports review (93' - 94') of a similar model at your local library.

You can find the manual and some parts info here:

toro lawn mower mod 22142 self propeled motor runs wheeles turn ...

EDIT: Ok second details, there is a mechanical clutch that needs attention, either adjustment or repair. Follow your linkages down tto a unit just above the the blade since you say you have no belts it must be directly under the engine, if the mower is relatively new it is probably an adjustment. If the mower is older you may have to replace the clutch assembly.
