Okay so I bought my Toro lawn mower last November. I used it once and then covered it up and waited for summer. Summer came and I have used the lawn mower about 5 times. Well this weekend I was using it and smoke started coming out of the holes of the metal panel on the side of the lawn mower. I know I should have changed the oil, not stored it with gas in it, used a gas stabilizer or something. All of which I read in the manual last night. Too little; too late right. So now I dont know what to do to fix the problem. I'm scared I may have ruined a $500 lawn mower. So any ideas of why its smoking?? Should I change the filter or maybe the spark plug or buy a gas stabilizer or change the oil?? Or just bite the bullet and take it to a shop?
also anyone know why you are supposed to change the oil after only two hours the first time you use it? What happens if you dont, can you ruin the engine? I checked the oil and it looks clear and its not over filled or anything....
drain all the old gas in it .... humidity causes water to get in the tank and in your oil too so change your oil also and the filter.

Hello, I am 15 years old and I mow my lawn every weekend. In our backyard, my dad just recently removed a bush, but left a few stumps there. I was mowing my lawn today and I was maneuvering around the stumps but the edge of the lawn mover clipped the edge of one of the stumps.
When it clipped the stump, the lawn mower was making this very very very loud clinking noise which sounded like it was coming from the blade. So i quickly stopped the engine and turned it back o just ot discover the same thing was happening but this time with white smoke coming out of the air filter.
Smoke was originally coming out of the filter before so that really didn't catch my attention. What did though was the clinking noise. I flipped over the lawn mower to see if the blade was bent and it appears that it is. It is slicing the front right corner of the blade cover.
I haven't told my dad yebecausese he didn't come home from work yet. However, I told my mom and she flipped sh*t on me. I have a TORO key start lawn mower and it is about 2-3 years old. The blade is 22" long fyi.
Do I need to replace the blade with a new one?
Help?
I used to mow a lot of grass for a city parks department. On the Toro riding mowers we had, the blades come off quite easily by removing one nut. The blades can easily be hammered back into shape and resharpened in a matter of 10-15 minutes. You don't have to be gentle with them, the blades can handle some serious abuse. Just remember to re-tighten the nut firmly and check the blade after a few minutes of mowing just to make sure.
I have a Toro (model:20041) 22" Recycler with a Briggs and Stratton 6.5 HP motor (model:125K05). The blade hit a steel water meter cover and damaged the motor. The mower had a slight side to side wobble and was barely running and occasionally backfed. I replaced the crank shaft and the blade. After the repair I started it up again and it didn't seem to run any better other than the fact it did not wobble anymore. One thing I did notice was I could not start the engine with the air cleaner installed. It seems to barely have enough air intake to run.
What next? valves? piston rod? head gasket? What else could be damages and how do I tell, I don't want to just replace all the parts?
Google this to see the motor: Toro Briggs and Stratton 125K05-0186-E1
The pin sheared after I installed the crank shaft while trying to test start the engine. What would cause the pin to shear off again? Maybe I pulled too aggressively while trying to start? I installed a 2nd pin. It could be partially sheared again, it is difficult to check. If it keeps shearing, what should I look for or replace? I do think this is why it is running bad, but the real issue is what is causing the shearing? One of the stators did break off the flywheel, but the mass is so low, I can't see that causing that much of an imbalance.
You probably have a bent pushrod to the intake valve.
Ariens WAW 1034 - LawnSite.comâ„¢ - Lawn Care amp; Landscaping Business ...
Do any of you have any experience with the Ariens Wide Area Walk 1034 mower? It looks pretty solid and the dealer says it's in the entry level commerical / top end consumer range, that is: it's built pretty solid. I'm also looking at the Exmark Metro 26. As much as I've read bad stuff about them, I've also read good stuff about there more recent stuff. I was looking at a lawn tractor and ZTR as well, but with the cutting I'm doing, a rider would probably be less usefull to me. I have a condo and 2 townhomes so it's longer strips of lawns with some yards and hills I need to scale across. I do have some residential clients but I use my 21" Toro for those.
