This Toro Personal Pace lawn mower was left with fuel for a year or two. I cleaned the carburetor, replaced the oil, replaced the spark plug, checked the air filter, and put new gas. When I use starting fluid or prime 5-10 times, it starts. But it won't keep running. It dies after few seconds.
What could be the problem? Please help!
It sounds like you did everything necessary to get it running after it sitting around for that amount of time. I would bring it to the Toro dealer. Its probably something you just can't do on your own.
www.lowes.com You will need: pliers, shop towels, a drain pan, and a new fuel filter. Park the mower outdoors on a solid, level surface. Inspect ...
Since then I haven't been able to start it. I'm assuming the filter is probable saturated with fuel?
When you tipped it on it's side you may have gotten oil into the air filter. The crankcase vent line runs into the air filter box. Check your air filter for oil. The other thing may be the float valve in the carburetor. When you tipped the mower you could have gotten some debris from the bottom of the float bowl into the valve seat. You will have to take the carb apart and clean it out.
My friend and i have a small lawn mowing business and i acquired a newer model personal pace Toro lawn mower for free. It was stored in a shed for about 2 years after being used maybe 5 times. I can prime it and it will run for 3-6 seconds but then the throttle closes and it shuts off. The air filter is new and the spark plug is new. I changed the oil and drained the stale gasoline. The fuel line and the carb are free of any gum deposits. Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!
The carburetor is the problem. It needs to be taken apart and soaked in a good carb cleaner. Put it back together with a rebuild kit.

Hey man, no gas on it after I try to start although what's interesting is after the amount of times I choked it with red push button, would have thought I flooded it! Wonder if somehow not getting gas thru line?
How do I check if spark plug is firing good? Also, could it be the solid state module and if so, is there a way to check to see if that's working?
I don't beleive it is the module. To check for a spark pull the spark plug out and stick it back into the plug wire and ground the tip of the spark plug and try and start as your trying to start it watch the tip of the plug it should have a good spark to it, it may take two people to do this plus if you have to...Mower won#39;t cut as tall of grass
