Toro Lawn Mower Self Propelled

Answers

I have a new Toro self propelled lawn mower and it is making metal knocking noises.?

We probably have only used it 4 or 5 times on our smaller lawn. We were using it in pretty long grass when it started and we cleaned the grass out, the blade is sturdy and can't see anything that it might be hitting. It almost seems like it might be more in the engine. Any Ideas?

CHECK THE OIL LEVEL NOW.
i would take the mower to be looked at while it's still underrwarrantyy. check your owners manuel as to where to take it. once thewarrantyy period is up it will then be on you to pay to have it fixed.
that's a quality mower so don't hesitate to have it looked at NOW.

Toro Self-Propelled Lawnmower won't push when propell is not engage?

I have a 22" Toro Self-propelled Lawn mower and whenever I just normally push the lawnmower before I start it, the front wheels are locking up and I have to pull the drive cable back toward me to dis-engage the clutch it seems. It's really wierd. The self-propelled works perfect when I'm running the mower and all. I just can't determine why it's trying to engage when I'm just pushing it.

Is it a Toro Personal Pace mower? If so, the self propelled feature is belt driven direct from the motor shaft. As you put forward force on the handle, it starts to tension the belt against the motor shaft. If the motor is not turning, then what's going on is your draggin the belt against the shaft... nothing really you can do about it. This answer will only apply if you have a Personal Pace mower. If you have some other type of self propell feature then the other guys answer sounds logical to me.

toro lawn mower makes knocking noise while cutting?

I have a self propelled toro and when i start the motor it sounds like it should, but when i start mowing it makes a loud knocking noise. Any suggestions?

check the blades, something may get stuck there, or the blades became loose.

I have a Toro lawn mower I bought about $300 at Home Depot and the self-propel has quit.?

Generally, is it cheaper to repair the self-propel or is this one of those repairs it will be cheaper to buy a new mower?

If it is less than a year old, return it. You will get your money back.

Help to keep my Toro lawn mower running!?

I have a Toro self propelled walk behind mower I purchased approx. 4 years ago. I have never had a problem with it until yesterday. It will start, idle for 2-3 seconds and stop. I do this over and over and it will not continue running. I changed the oil, air filter, put in new gasoline, and made sure the oil/gas lids are on as tight as possible to prevent air from sucking in.
Now this wouldn't be urgent with the exception of having two potential buyers coming to look at my home tomorrow! My lawn looks like a pasture! I looked at the top to see how to remove the metal plate and it appears I need a special tool to do so. Please, anyone have any ideas? There is no way I can load that mower into my truck by myself to take it to a shop. Help!!!

It is most likely the diaphragm. The only way to fix it is to replace it. Here is a link that may help.
