How does 'Ready Start' work on a Craftsman lawn mower with a Briggs & Stratton motor?

I was in the market for a lawn mower and found that Sears had the best selection and on that day, the best deals. I purchased a Craftsman 21" mulch and bag mower with a 190cc Briggs & Stratton 6.75 ft.lb torque for $80 off at $250 and has 2 year warranty. I was used to a primer button and an engine rated in horse power, but this one has 'Ready start' and no primer. Is it an auto choke like on some Artic Cat atvs or not. Has there been any trouble? Who makes Craftsman mowers??? Is it TORO? It seems to be a quality piece, the deck is thick and seems to be a heavy duty material, not like the MTDs I've looked at.
I just found out that 'Husqvarna' made my particular mower based on the source code '944' in the beginning of the item number '944.36819'.

Briggs & Stratton Engines equipped with the Ready Start feature which defeat the need for a primer bulb because the necessary amount of fuel is fed to the carburetor prior to starting. There is no choking required on any Craftsman mower. You are correct about the manufacturer, it is an American subsidary of the Husqvarna Group. The decks on Craftsman mowers are made of a heavy guage steel which makes them a little weighty, but gives them a better quality.

Big pile of leaves, mulching?

The previous owner left me huge piles of wet leaves againgst the fence, about 3 ft deep. What is the best way to get rid of them? I raked the majority into big piles. Should I buy an Electric blower/mulcher and suck them up and then put the droppings around trees/garden? I read the leaves break down into mulch when they are cut up. Or do I run my Toro lawn mower/mulcher over them and take the bagged up pieces and drop them around yard? And last do these leafs that become mulch eventually compost on their own?

Get them away from the fence, that will be bad for the fence if it is wooden. In order to blow leaves, they have to be dry. So you first goal is to spread them out so they can dry, or keep turning them if you weather is dry enough to help, If it is still wet in your area, use a pitchfork or 3 pronged rake to load them into a wheel barrow . Leaves that are used for mulch are run thur a special lawnmower, called a mulcher. If you leave them whole, it will take them a lot longer to break down . If you do mulch them with a mulcher, they are GREAT for your soil.

Question about self propelled lawnmowers.?

So I need to buy a lawnmower within just a couple days. I used to rent a house that had an old toro lawnmower provided by the landlord. Now I own my own house, with no lawnmower yet, and the grass is getting to the point where I will need to mow it very soon. I'm trying to stay in a budget of under $300. And I want to get a 3 in 1, primarily used for mulching.

One problem is, I'm having trouble deciding if I want a self propelled one, or regular push, since I've never used a self propelled. I have a few questions I couldn't find the answers to anyways.
1. Do I really need a self propelled mower if I'm in good shape? I never felt the need for it before mowing my lawn that was on about a 8000 sqft lot. Now I'm on a 1/4 acre lot, with some slight hills. I don't know weather the self propelled will actually be a luxury for me to save energy, or weather it will be hassle and perhaps not even keep up with my normal walking pace (I usually mow the lawn fast because I want to get it done in a hurry). I mean, I work a construction job, so on one hand pushing a lawnmower is simple work compared to what I do all day, but on the other hand, after a day hard work being tired, the luxury of a self propelled one might make my day easier if they actually work without a hitch. Having never used one I just don't know if its for me, what do you think?
2. With self propelled mowers, is it as simple to back them up if necessary as a regular mower or not? Usually when mowing the old lawn, rather than flip a 180 every time, I'd usually just push it forward one run, and pull it backwards the other run.
3. Any particular models in that price range that are good, or any lemons?

Self propelled mowers are a nice luxury. You will probably find that the mower will be slower than you want to push it, but you can still push it faster if you want. It will help a lot with your hills.
An important note is that the mowers you will buy that are not self propelled are not as high quality as self propelled mowers. They are usually cheaply made, but are inexpensive.
Honda makes a good mower, also Toro, and I have always had really good luck with Craftsman mowers. You can find one of all of these brands in your price range, just decide what "extras" you want on them.
