I have a little over/under 3,000 dollar budget. I would like a deck width of atleast 34'' and up to 42''. I know the toro at home depot is a good buy and is ranked high by consumer reports. Is there any dixon, exmark, hustlers, etc for under 3,000? Also does anyone know a website for used zero turn lawn mowers besides craigslist and ebay?
I've seen John deere zero turns for 2999 at Lowes. I personally would never buy a John Deere but for a small budget they are a good buy.
The Cubcadet 42'' ZRT, the Toro 42'' Timecutter Z, or the John Deere Z225. And why. What are some pros and cons. Best answer gets 10 points. Thanks.
Cub cadet is made in mexico so is the john deere. the john deere is the most expensive and a lot of the cost is the name. I would go with the toro cause its made in the usa, has full pressure lubrication on the motor like the pros have, has the deck wash feature where you hook a water hose to the deck and wash it out while its running. and its resale value is very good, just look on ebay and compare prices for them. only the high end cub cadet/john deere stuff is still made in the usa. the stuff you can buy at home depot or Lowe's is made in mexico. also i know a dude that mowes his 4 acer yard with a time cutter and has over 600hrs on the machine with no problems.

I am looking at a few different zero turn mowers. The Toro TimecuttterZ2400, timecutterZ2500, Cub Cade RZT 42 or the John Deere Z225. They start at $2500 up to $2900. Which one will be the best value money, quality and durability wise.
The question you need to ask, where can I get it serviced if I need repair work. It sounds like you are looking at Home Depot. Check around and see which brand has a dealer in your location.
Toro - 19 horse power Koedler engine
Cub Cadet - 19 horse power Koedler engine
Troy - 18.5 horse power Koedler engine
John Deer - 19 horse power Straggs engine
Lawn Boy - 19 horse power Honda engine
All lawn mowers are 42 inch cut zero turn radius and come from a major retailer like Lowe's and Home Depot. Is it better to purchase a lawn mower directly from the company dealer (ex. buy a John Deer from a John Deer dealer) and which one of these lawn mowers will be the most durable?
From my personal experience, I find the Briggs & Stratton and Honda the most reliable, with the Koedler doing well in third. Durability wise, nothing beats a John Deere.
Home Cheapo or Lower's are probably you best bet, unless you can get it direct cheaper from the manufacturer or dealer. It would take some comparison shopping. Usually around Father's day (upcoming) they offer some great deals on these in any of these places - check your newspaper circular for the best deal.
Also don't rule out "refurbed" if you are looking for a bargain - that is how I got my last mower for about 1/2 of what it retailed for normally...
